Hi, I highly recommend downtown la Crucecita, go to 3 de Mayo market, inside the market there is a whole aisle full of small restaurants that serve local food. La tosta del mar, also in main plaza is a good place for sea food and breakfast.
Santa Cruz also offers festivities during Christmas break( shows, concerts, etc). Basketball and pickleball is practiced at "unidad Deportiva" close to downtown.

if you are staying right in the village, take a cab to La Bocana...lovely surf beach - has surf board and boogie board rentals. A small cafe. just a quiet little town with friendly locals.

We just got back. Loved the magic falls. Climbing through and out of a cave with spring water coming down on you, diving off rocks into clear spring water, rope swing. Amazing!!! Ask about the little natural water slide. Some of our group went on the zip line. Best to go with guides that know the water depths.
I loved the coffee farm tour but not sure if that’s your jam.
Tip-take bug spray for any out trips.
Also-take pesos not USD. They want everything in pesos there.
