Be prepared to wait hours in Ferry line ups. The coast is getting very busy. If you bring lots of patience you should be ok.

As a resident of the Sunshine Coast re ferries, if you travel on peak days it's busy, get there early or reserve. We don't have a lot of hotels so book early, the new renovated hotel in Davis Bay is nice. DO NOT dig clams or pick oysters unless it is an open area and you have licence, do the research. We have lots of local fresh seafood for sale, enjoy and support. Enjoy the area

Just make a reservation for the ferry - barring weather issues you should be fine.

Sunshine Coast Trip Planning
Hi group!
We are a group of 8-10 people (with 2 kids under 10), thinking of travelling to the sunshine coast for a few days in July/August.
I have never been to the sunshine coast. My family wants to dig some clams and oysters there. Is that a good idea?
Yes, digging for clams and oysters is a popular activity on the Sunshine Coast. You will need to purchase a fishing license to do so, and you should follow the regulations regarding the number and size of clams and oysters you can take. You can find more information on the Department of Fisheries and Oceans website.
Here are some other suggestions for activities:
- Visit the Pender Harbour, a beautiful area with plenty of opportunities for hiking, kayaking, and swimming.
- Take a whale watching tour. The Sunshine Coast is home to a variety of whales, including humpback whales, grey whales, and orcas.
- Visit the Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives, and learn about the history and culture of the region.
- Go for a swim at one of the many beaches.
- Visit the local markets, and browse the unique handicrafts and produce.
Here are some recommendations for accommodation:
- The Sunshine Coast Resort, a family-friendly resort with a variety of amenities.
- The Pender Harbour Inn, a charming bed and breakfast in a beautiful setting.
- The Gibsons Guest House, a cozy and affordable option.
I hope this information helps you plan your trip. Have a great time on the Sunshine Coast!
