Leave the northern part of the trip (above the 26 parallel) until winter. When it's 28c and awesome! Only do the West coast if you have more than 4-5months. Camp/ tent if you have the option. It's sweet sleeping outside and can also be free.
Learn to swim... the beaches are like nothing else. Oh, and don't forget the sunscreen.
Best city I think is Melbourne. But there are tons of cool towns!

We started our trip in Sidney for five days then rented a car an drove t Porsipine (sic) and went out to the great barrier reef then back to Sidney. Cheers

If you’re a wine drinker, research the different regions and pick one that suits your taste! Also highly recommend camping. There are free camp spots all over the place. Get a CAMPS 8 book. Australia has public toilets everywhere and a lot of them have showers. Have all of the fun!
