Taking a trip may 25th til june 3rd going to few places in Asia (tokyo, singapore, hong kong, shanghai) if we could get any advice on your favorite things to do or see in these areas would appreciate the insight. Thank you.

There was a recent post about HK (maybe 2 weeks ago). I posted a ton of stuff there. In Singapore, check out: 1)Gardens by the bay. Head up to the roof top a night at the Marina Bay hotel for a drink. Great views. Go to the Long Bar at Raffles hotel for a drink. Hire a bike and ride along the east coast to Marina Bay. Check out the hawker stand food stalls. Check out Boat/Clarke Quay.

We went to Hong Kong for two weeks and had a lot of fun hiking from discovery bay to mui wo (there's three routes of varying difficulty).
We also enjoyed afternoon tea at the Mandarin oriental and at Tiffin at the Grand Hyatt. A bit pricey but the food was top notch for both (latter had an ice cream and cake bar).
Also loved taking the ferry out to the beach on one of the outer islands

For Tokyo, the museum of innovation and technology was a favorite.

Singapore - There are light shows in Singapore that are nice to catch: Spectra from Bayfront or if youre up at Marina Bay Sands that would be a good view too. There's also one at Sentosa should you end up there. Brunch - Sentosa or Dempsey Hill For a different vibe, Tiong Bahru is nice to explore for little shops and restaurants. Botanic Garden for a stroll and High Tea at Halia. Henderson Waves to see SG's wavy bridge

If you are going to HK first, go to the electronic markets in Sham shiu po to pick up cheap SIM cards for data usage in China and Japan. There's a combo HK/China SIm card with prices cheaper than the label price but more importantly all your data is routed to HK servers (even the China Unicom branded versions) so you can access Facebook and Google serves (especially Maps and Translate) in China. The Japanese SIMS available in Sam shiu po are also about half the price as in Japan and don't require a complex registration process.

Take a Ding Ding (old streetcare). Get a transit pass. Star ferry. Ferry to old town portion of Macau. Ferry to Lamma island. Walk and walk.

Choose 1 or 2 cities. Skip China

Just to clarify it is a cruise we are on. So 1 day in each place except for Hong Kong thats 2 days.

HongKong - do you know if you'll be at Hongkong side or Kowloon side? shopping is everywhere but I really like Causeway Bay because you get high end malls and street market kind of shopping there. For night life - SoHo (more quiet and upscale) and lan Kwai Fong (craaaazy but must experience when in HK). Light show at harbour front. A ferry ride crossing from kowloon side to hongkong. For hikes: Victoria Peak and for a good view of HK. something more chill and a bit away from the city -- Stanley

In Hong Kong, take time to go see the Big Buddha. It is quite the experience!
Temple street has a great bubble waffle storefront that makes the most delicious waffles.

hong kong Disney is well worth a day

Double check if you are able to get off the cruise in Shanghai without a visa. You may need to get a visa for China.

I see Disney on the list already. We just got back from Tokyo with two teenagers. Disneysea is not to be missed if it’s your thing. Also beautiful parks and gardens in Tokyo.

Andrea tokyo we have a good list. Going to disney for sure, very excited. Vietnam and Hong kong we still planning

Singapore is awesome , Sentosa Island is a must

The Night Safari in Singapore is wonderful.

HK Disneyland is far more relaxed than other Disneylands, and the gondola to the Big Buddha is a fun experience. The Ladies Market is a great place to get some cute stuff, but bring your haggling A-game. Night cruises and fireworks are worth catching too.

Don't get shanghaid in Shanghai with the tea house scam. The Singapore sling at raffles is pricey. Get it anyway! It's the birth place of the Singapore sling! Also Raffles is very cool.

Can anybody confirm this for me? I'm under the impression that we DO NOT need a visa for china on this cruise itenery. Does this sound right? Hope to get a confirmation. Thank you.

Andrew I was in China last year for 3 weeks & I needed a Visa. Check with the Chinese Visa Center in your area.

Andrew The Chinese are pretty strict so best to know exactly what is required. For Hong Kong, don't be sick or have a fever. As you walk through immigration, there are scanners to check for elevated body temperatures. This is a prevention against virus outbreaks.
