We loved Germany and Switzerland. ..although Switzerland was pretty expensive it was so gorgeous! We went paragliding in interlaken and enjoyed carnivale in Lucerne. Germany took the cake though, the black forest cake...we had no shortage of things to do in Germany and it was affordable and everyone was so friendly. The food was great and accomadations were very affordable. We took a river cruise from frankfurt to bonn on the Rhine and did a couple castle tours. We hiked in the black forest. We checked out art galleries and castles in Munich. There was never a dull moment. Germany is now my second favourite European country (Portugal is number 1).

We just honeymooned for two weeks in Greece in september. You can do Athens in a day. We went to mykonos and Santorini. Mykonos was our favorite and we are not partiers. It was just neat to explore with lots to offer and easy to get around. Santorini (specifically oia) was cruise ship hell. I would not recommend it at all. Also, oia practically shuts down at the end of season in October, so be cautious of that. I'd recommend considering italy. It's my favorite European country out of Portugal, France, spain, England, Ireland, Italy, and greece. We took a 3 week trip there in 2016 as a couple and had the most romantic and relaxing time.

Austria and Germany alone could take up the whole two weeks.
I’m a huge fan of Austria, Greece and Germany and have been multiple times. I can give you tips depending what you decide to do.
This last summer we did Mykonos and Munich plus UK in 2.5 weeks.
Best part was our own self guided walking beer garden tour

We did 5 weeks in just Italy for our honeymoon. I highly, highly recommend, if you can, spending as much time as possible in 1 country. You really get to know it and there's a ton to see.
Otherwise you spend a lot of precious vacation time just traveling from place to place instead of fitting in awesome quiet moments like laying on the grass, with a bottle of wine and a sandwich outside of a great but not necessarily the top of "to do and see" lists of any given place. When you leave yourself no time you feel rushed and like you need to pack in as much as you can. It's those quiet moments with my husband I will remember and cherish more than stuff we saw. Just my two cents.

I feel like a week in Santorini may be too much. It is the most touristy Greek island. It is pretty but there are better beaches on other Greek Islands like Ios or Mykonos
Heather
I found Mykonos to be more touristy than Santorini but we stayed on the other side of the island from the Caldera- loads of wineries to explore
Lauren
Mix santorini with Naxos and it’s a perfect combo.

Greece is gorgeous! We did 3 days on Mykonos and 3 on Santorini! Loved them both. But beaches on Mykonos are amazing.

Croatia is worth the visit. It is amazing.
Also, if you're a GOT fan, Dubrovnik's old city is King's Landing .

Book hotels and travel EARLY during Oktoberfest times.

If your skiers go to Zermatt and do the Matterhorn. Check out Zermatt, no vehicles and easy to walk about

Planning the Perfect European Honeymoon
Ah, the honeymoon – the quintessential post-nuptial escape for newlyweds to bask in marital bliss. And what better destination than the enchanting landscapes of Europe? With its rich tapestry of cultures, breathtaking scenery, and romantic ambiance, it's no wonder that Europe tops the list for many couples.
As you contemplate your options for this once-in-a-lifetime experience, let's delve into the pros and cons of the two enticing itineraries you've proposed:
Option A: 1 Week in Austria and 1 Week in Santorini
This split itinerary offers a delightful contrast of experiences. Austria, with its storybook villages, imperial grandeur, and alpine splendor, promises a fairytale-like escapade. From the charming streets of Vienna to the picturesque lakes of Salzkammergut, you'll be swept off your feet by Austria's old-world charm.
On the other hand, Santorini, the legendary Greek island, offers a romantic respite like no other. Imagine lounging on the sun-drenched beaches, sipping on crisp white wines, and watching the mesmerizing sunsets paint the sky in hues of orange and crimson. The whitewashed villages perched atop the caldera cliffs will leave you awestruck.
This option allows you to immerse yourselves in two distinct cultures, savoring the best of both worlds. However, keep in mind that the travel time between Austria and Santorini can be lengthy, potentially cutting into your precious honeymoon days.
Option B: Two Weeks Hopping Through Austria, Switzerland, and Germany
For those seeking an all-encompassing European adventure, this multi-country itinerary promises a diverse array of experiences. From the imperial grandeur of Vienna to the quaint Swiss villages nestled amid snow-capped peaks, and the vibrant cities of Germany steeped in history and culture, you'll be treated to a veritable buffet of European delights.
Imagine strolling hand-in-hand along the picturesque Bavarian countryside, savoring the region's renowned cuisine and beverages. Or perhaps you'd prefer to marvel at the majestic Swiss Alps, embarking on romantic hikes through pristine alpine meadows.
This option allows you to immerse yourselves in the rich tapestry of Central European cultures, creating lasting memories at every turn. However, be prepared for a fast-paced itinerary, as hopping between countries can be time-consuming, leaving less room for leisurely relaxation.
Ultimately, the choice rests with you and your partner's preferences. If you crave a blend of cultural immersion and beachside bliss, Option A might be the perfect fit. But if you're seeking an all-encompassing European adventure, Option B could be the ideal way to kick off your newlywed journey.
Whichever path you choose, embrace the magic of your honeymoon and create cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

We're planning our honeymoon in October and are torn between how to spend our two weeks in Europe.
a) 1 week in Austria and 1 week relaxing in Santorini
b) Two weeks hopping through Austria, Switzerland, and Germany.
Any suggestions or experiences?
