. But it sounds like you can go in and see the animals but the petting zoo bit isn’t open.

Kelly that’s so sad! I wonder why? I’m sure there would be ample donations to keep it running if that’s what they’re worried about!

Favourites from our sons when they were that age - Fort Rodd Hill, Royal BC Museum, Bug Zoo, playgrounds at Beacon Hill Park, Butterfly World, Gyro Beach and playground at Cabdoro Bay, take a harbour ferry to Fisherman’s Wharf to get ice cream then walk back along David Foster Walkway, MacAulay Point Park for the beach and bunkers, bike on the Goose to Mattick’s Farm for ice cream then down to Parker Beach (although you’d need a trailer for your littler guys), Miniature World.

Forgot Peter Pan Water Park in Oak Bay - one of their faves

I don’t know when you’ll be here, but I live in Cordova Bay. During our lower tides (next series of low tides coming around July 23) you can walk barefoot for miles on the sand bar. The water is warm and there are crabs and sea-life. Super fun for kids (and adults - we walk it everyday that we can). You can have lunch outside (or on the beach)at The Beach House Restaurant. This is one of two sand beaches in Victoria area. PM if questions
Also, Thetis Lake is a blast for kids. Great swimming beach, lots of kiddies on floaties, safe and gorgeous.

Finally, look into Bilston Creek Farm. It’s a gorgeous lavender farm that hosts family picnics on the weekends - pizza and hotdogs. Great place for littles to run around.

Another one my boys loved when they were younger was the Maritime Museum, but that was when it was in the old haunted courthouse in Bastion Square. I haven’t been since it moved to Nootka Court so I can’t say how good it is there - but I suspect it’s nowhere near as entertaining for young lads

Fun Things to Do in Victoria with Kids Ages 2-8

Spending a weekend in Victoria with four energetic boys aged 2 to 8 can be both exciting and challenging. Fortunately, this charming city on Vancouver Island offers a variety of family-friendly activities that will keep the little ones entertained while creating lasting memories. Here are some fun ideas to make the most of your weekend getaway:

1. Explore Beacon Hill Park

This sprawling urban oasis is a paradise for kids. Let them burn off energy at the playgrounds, feed the ducks at the picturesque ponds, and marvel at the towering totem poles. Don't forget to visit the petting zoo, where they can interact with friendly farm animals like goats, sheep, and bunnies.

2. Visit the Royal BC Museum

Immerse your kids in the rich history and culture of British Columbia at this world-class museum. The interactive displays, life-size dioramas, and hands-on exhibits will fascinate young minds. Make sure to check out the iconic woolly mammoth and the First Peoples gallery, which showcases the traditions of indigenous communities.

3. Ride the Horse-Drawn Carriages

Step back in time and explore the picturesque streets of downtown Victoria in a horse-drawn carriage. The kids will be delighted by the clip-clop of the horses' hooves as you pass by historic landmarks and charming neighborhoods. Don't forget to bring your camera to capture the magical moments.

4. Visit Fisherman's Wharf

This vibrant wharf is a must-visit destination for seafood lovers and adventure seekers. Let the kids marvel at the colorful float homes, watch the seals basking in the sun, and indulge in fresh fish and chips from one of the many food kiosks. If you're feeling adventurous, take a harbor tour or rent a paddleboat for a unique perspective of the city.

5. Explore the Bug Zoo

For an up-close encounter with creepy-crawlies, visit the Bug Zoo. This unique attraction houses a vast collection of insects, arachnids, and other fascinating creatures from around the world. The knowledgeable staff will educate your kids about these fascinating creatures while dispelling any fears or misconceptions.

With these exciting activities, your weekend in Victoria will be filled with unforgettable moments and precious memories for you and your little ones.
