Yeah, it was the same for us. Modo has the Kia Sedona which seats up to 8. For about a 3-week rental, it cost us about $1,100 overall. We didn't do many long-distance road trips though... Only 1 trip to Whistler during the 3-weeks.. the rest was local driving.

I joined Modo around May and booked the closest van to us early so that it was blocked off for us for the August time period.

Affordable Minivan Rental for Your Summer Family Visit

Having family visit during the summer can be an exciting and memorable experience. However, transporting a large group can be a challenge, especially if you don't have a vehicle that can accommodate everyone comfortably. That's where renting a minivan comes in handy. In this blog post, we'll explore some go-to sites and tips for finding an affordable minivan rental for your upcoming family visit from August 10th to 31st.

Go-To Sites for Minivan Rentals

  1. Rental Car Companies: Major rental car companies like Enterprise, Hertz, and Avis often offer a wide selection of minivans for rent. Their websites are user-friendly and allow you to compare prices and vehicle options across different locations.
  2. Online Travel Agencies (OTAs): Websites like Expedia, Priceline, and Travelocity can be great resources for finding competitive rates on minivan rentals. They often have deals and discounts available, making them a cost-effective option.
  3. Peer-to-Peer Car Sharing: Services like Turo and Getaround allow you to rent vehicles directly from individual owners, which can sometimes lead to better rates than traditional rental companies. However, be sure to thoroughly review the vehicle's condition and the owner's policies.

Tips for Finding an Affordable Minivan Rental

  1. Book Early: Renting a minivan during the peak summer travel season can be more expensive due to high demand. Book your rental as early as possible to secure the best rates and availability.
  2. Compare Prices: Don't just settle for the first option you find. Compare prices across multiple rental companies and websites to ensure you're getting the best deal.
  3. Consider Off-Airport Locations: Rental companies often charge higher rates at airport locations due to additional taxes and fees. Consider picking up and dropping off your minivan at an off-airport location, which can sometimes result in significant savings.
  4. Utilize Discounts and Loyalty Programs: Many rental companies offer discounts for memberships, corporate accounts, or affiliations with organizations like AAA or AARP. Don't forget to inquire about any available discounts you may be eligible for.
  5. Read Reviews: Before booking, take the time to read reviews from past customers about the rental company and the specific minivan models you're considering. This can help you make an informed decision and avoid any unpleasant surprises.

Referrals and Suggestions

If you have friends or family members who have rented minivans in the past, don't hesitate to ask for their recommendations and suggestions. Word-of-mouth referrals can be invaluable when it comes to finding a reliable and affordable rental experience.

Remember, renting a minivan can make your family visit more comfortable and enjoyable, allowing you to create cherished memories together. By following these tips and exploring the go-to sites, you'll be well on your way to securing an affordable minivan rental for your summer vacation.
