I have no specifics as our kids haven't been old enough to do much hiking on our road trips yet but we love the area near Crater Lake OR, and Mount Shasta, CA. Also OR has some really nice waterfalls to hike to. Google will help you read about them.

Thank you! I will look into it for sure!

Cannon Beach, OR is a pretty place to spend a night or 2. Carmel, CA is a very cute town. San Fran is a must!
Lisa
There's an amazing little town in Oregon called Bandon. Best seafood anywhere. Also, Hearst castle in California is pretty incredible.

Jesse Honeyman Park in OR is beautiful camping, and right next to the dunes. The redwood forest is also a must see, and Yosemite as well if you can make it that far East! But also spend some time in Portland, especially if you like craft beer
Dave
Monterrey, Carmel by the sea, San Luis Obispo (all 101) all wonderful places. Stay away from Hwy 5 from Sacramento through Bakersfield, it is the dirtiest, smoggiest and ugliest part of California
Lorraine
All of it! They are all must sees although some of the parks or passes maybe closed due to snow
Jess
If your going as far as San Diego there is a aweome little town called San Clemente and they have a very clean safe campground outiaide Camp Pendelton. And it's a short drive / 15 min walk to beach
Wasn't inpresswd with the other camp spots we got outside of that spot
Oregon had the best campsites
Paulette
Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area along Hgwy 101, near Reedsport, Oregon, rent a sandrail or hire someone to take you on a ride up, down and around the dunes - great fun

Must-See, Must-Do, and Must-Hike Recommendations for Your Road Trip!
Hi there! I'm so excited for your upcoming road trip from Vancouver to California. It sounds like it's going to be an amazing adventure filled with camping, hiking, and exploring some of the most beautiful natural wonders in the United States. Here are some recommendations for must-see, must-do, and must-hike destinations along your route:
Yosemite National Park
Yosemite is a must-see destination for any nature lover. Make sure to hike to iconic landmarks like Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, and Glacier Point. Camp in the park for a truly immersive experience in nature.
Death Valley National Park
Death Valley is a unique and otherworldly destination that shouldn't be missed. Visit Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America, and hike through the colorful canyons of Artist's Palette.
Grand Canyon National Park
The Grand Canyon is a must-do on any road trip through the Southwest. Hike along the rim for breathtaking views, or venture down into the canyon for a more challenging trek. Camping under the stars near the canyon is an unforgettable experience.
These are just a few of the amazing destinations you can explore on your road trip from Vancouver to California. Be sure to pack plenty of water, snacks, and camping gear, and always follow Leave No Trace principles to protect these beautiful natural areas. Have an incredible journey!
Safe travels and happy hiking!
