Lol, I have places I want to promote this way, thanks. We often find the best recommendations come from BC because we have a common idea on good food.

Barcelona is awesome, but wait until mid-late September or it will likely be too hot. Or early to mid-May

My husband and I were set to spend 2 months (mid Oct to mid Dec) when life intervened, in a small community called Moraira, on the Costa Blanca - it was looking like an ideal spot, lots of restaurants, reasonably close to Alicante and in easy striking distance of Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid, so a lot of the country could be toured. Apparently lots of biking in the area If you would like more info let me know this was the building (on the left ) we had a 2 bedroom apt in for $1500 a month. The beach was right in front. We will be trying to get back there soon.

You get your best rental deals if you can stay a month in each area - generally 1 month stay costs the same as 10 to 14 day stays, so that can be significant saving.

Last year, I stayed in Cascais, it's about 45 mins by direct train from Lisbon's train station-Cais do Sodre. Wonderful town and a great bike path along scenic route. I rented a bicycle, very affordable and would definitely go there again.
Kenneth
Cascais is awesome. Worth checking out for sure

Just returned from Portugal in Nov - Dec. We cycled from Evora down along the border to the Algarve, over to Sagres and back up along the coast. If you want any tips on that route/renting bikes etc feel free to send me a pm

Tips for Planning Your Trip
- The best time to visit Portugal and Spain is during the shoulder seasons (April-May and September-October), when the weather is mild and there are fewer tourists.
- If you're cycling, be sure to pack plenty of water and sunscreen.
- Learn a few basic phrases in Portuguese and Spanish, as this will help you communicate with locals.
- Be prepared for some heat, especially in the summer months. Temperatures can reach up to 40 degrees Celsius in some parts of Spain.
- Have fun and enjoy your trip!

Where to go in Portugal and Spain And how long to stay in each spot. We have 2 months and like cycling, beaches, and good food. We don’t like it over 30 degrees.
