If you like a smaller, boutique auberge-style hotel, the Hotel Nelligan is lovely. It's right in the most romantic part of the Old Town, and easily within walking distance of the Palais. Alternatively, if you're there more on business than pleasure, then the InterContinental is also really nice, and it's literally across the street fro the Palais. Bon voyage!

I stayed at this hotel in February. Love it and the location was on par. Walking distance to so may things and it had a funky artsy music memorabilia all over it. Great boutique hotel and the reviews are good too. http://www.lhotelmontreal.com/default-en.html

My husband and I stayed here for a few days couple of years ago. Really nice and close to metro.
