Give yourself lots of time in the Te Papa museum in Wellington. Take the Wellington Cable Car up the hill and walk down thru the Botanical Gardens. There's a great walking tour of Wellington from the tourist information I-Site.

Exploring Wellington, New Zealand

How exciting that you're heading to New Zealand for a couple of weeks! Wellington, the capital city, has so much to offer in terms of culture, nature, and adventure. Here are some suggestions of things to do and see while you're there:

1. Te Papa Museum

Te Papa is New Zealand's national museum and is a must-visit for anyone interested in the country's history, art, and culture. It's located on the waterfront in Wellington and offers a variety of exhibitions and interactive displays.

2. Mount Victoria Lookout

For stunning panoramic views of Wellington and its surrounding areas, head to Mount Victoria Lookout. It's a short drive or hike from the city center and offers a great vantage point for photos.

3. Zealandia Eco-Sanctuary

If you're a nature lover, Zealandia is the place to be. This eco-sanctuary is home to a variety of native New Zealand wildlife, including birds, reptiles, and insects. Take a guided tour to learn more about the conservation efforts being made in the area.

4. Weta Workshop

Film buffs will love visiting Weta Workshop, the special effects and prop company behind movies like The Lord of the Rings and Avatar. Take a tour of the workshop to see how movie magic is made.

5. Cable Car and Botanic Gardens
