If you're in Vancouver I bought my airplane tickets (japan airlines & a better deal than anything that I found online) & rail pass at JTB which is underneath the Hotel Vancouver. It's also the only place in Canada to buy Ghibli Museum entry tickets

Are you in Vancouver? A few years ago, I went in person at NTA Travel Agency in downtown Vancouver and bought and picked it up in 15 mins. http://english.ntacanada.com/

Buying a Japan Rail Pass: Reputable Sites to Consider

If you're planning a trip to Japan and want to explore the country by train, purchasing a Japan Rail Pass (JR Pass) can be a cost-effective and convenient option. However, with so many websites offering JR Pass sales, it can be challenging to determine which ones are reputable and trustworthy. In this blog post, we'll recommend some reliable sites where you can buy your JR Pass with confidence.

Official JR Rail Pass Website

The official JR Rail Pass website is the most reliable source for purchasing your JR Pass. This site is operated by the East Japan Railway Company and offers a secure and hassle-free purchasing experience. You can choose from different pass options, including the Green Pass (first-class), ordinary pass, and regional passes. The website provides detailed information about the passes, including coverage areas, validity periods, and pricing.

Reputable Third-Party Vendors

While the official JR Rail Pass website is the safest option, there are also reputable third-party vendors that offer JR Pass sales. These vendors often provide additional services, such as delivery options, and may offer discounts or bundle deals. Here are some trusted third-party vendors to consider:

  • Japan Rail Pass: This authorized vendor has been in business for over 20 years and offers competitive pricing, secure online ordering, and various delivery options.
  • JR Pass: Another authorized vendor with a user-friendly website and excellent customer service. They provide detailed information about the passes and offer various delivery methods.
  • Govoyagin: This reputable travel platform allows you to purchase and receive your JR Pass before your trip, ensuring a seamless start to your Japan adventure.

Tips for Buying a JR Pass

When purchasing your JR Pass, keep the following tips in mind:

  • Buy in advance: JR Passes must be purchased before you arrive in Japan and are only available for purchase outside the country.
  • Check eligibility: JR Passes are only available for foreign tourists visiting Japan on a temporary visitor status. Make sure you meet the eligibility requirements before purchasing.
  • Consider your travel plans: Evaluate your itinerary and the number of long-distance train journeys you plan to take to determine if a JR Pass is cost-effective for your trip.
  • Secure delivery: Ensure that your JR Pass is delivered to your home address or a secure location before your departure for Japan.

By following these recommendations and tips, you can confidently purchase your JR Pass from a reputable source and enjoy the convenience and affordability of traveling across Japan by train.
