If you're seeing Korean Air involved with a flight from Calgary to Seoul, you're probably looking at a 1-stop flight through Vancouver. (In Canada, Korean Air only has passenger flights from Vancouver and Toronto)
Try searching for a nonstop flight from YYC, those will be operated solely by WestJet.
To find those, use the following days of the week:
Departing: Wed, Fri, Sun
Coming Home: Mon, Thu, Sat
(Any time between May 17th and October 26th)

Christhanks a million! Will give it a try.

Chris, let's say in the case where there is no International westjet non-stop, such as Manila. I'm just assuming they may have a nonstop to Hong Kong. In that case, would it be worth it to fly to Hong Kong where you could use a companion voucher, and then purchase a round trip ticket for Hong Kong - Manila?
Chris
Hi Wafty, westjet doesn't have nonstop flights to Hong Kong. Seoul is westjet's second nonstop flight to Asia, Tokyo was the first. A person would have to do the math to determine if it's worth it, remembering that you still have to pay the taxes and fees with a companion fare, and westjet likes to do sneaky things with the taxes and fees (Such as, say, a base fare of $100 with $1000 in 'taxes and fees').
Carol-An
If the base fare is low, despite the total amount being high with all the taxes and surcharges, then you will not be able to use the companion fare. We ran into this a few times and finally dropped the westjet card recently as it was not worth it.
Tania
Carol-Anfeel like that’s where we’re getting to as well. Just no value in it anymore
Bob
Tania lots of value when your base fare is $1,000+, especially when the free checked bags paid for the card to start with.
Ian
Carol-An We intend to do exactly the same. Cancel. Little value for us.
Sarah
On long haul flights, when I have tried, the high tax but low base fare means the voucher doesn’t actually result in a cheaper flight. That might be the problem.
Carol-An
Sarah yes, and if the base fare is under a certain amount you cannot use the companion fare. We recently experienced that trying to book London and after discovering why this keeps happening, we have dropped the westjet credit card. It was not worth the annual fee and then have all these restrictions on using the companion fare.

If it is code shared, the companion voucher will not work. I have the same situation: flying to Lima via Los Angeles. The leg Calgary- LAX and back are with westjet. Westjet will not accept the CV. What you can do is buy 2 separate tickets: 1 with WS and the other with Korean Airlines. Good luck.
Chris
Caveat: If you miss your connection, the airline no longer has the responsibility to put you on another flight since it's on a separate ticket.
Rachid
Chris that’s the risk which I was not willing to take so I booked everything with LATAM Airlines.
Stacey
I believe it has to be a flight that is only westjet and no partnerships. I tried a few options for Europe and believe that was the issue.

Works for me too, after May 17 on the direct YYC flights only (can be westjet connections to YYC before or after).

Briar

Jamie
Briar ours is $119 for Canada USA and $399 for anywhere else.
Carol
Briar we've always used ours to fly to Europe. We call in though to book...
Nata
Briar how do you exchange it for the lounge pass? Is it valid for any airport lounges?
Melanie
Briar we used it to go to Mexico.
Marcia
Briar
Nope. Currently in Europe having used the companion voucher.
Briar
Marcia maybe it’s because I only buy flights on sale.

Has anyone been able to use a WestJet companion voucher for Seoul?
Many travelers have reported difficulty using a WestJet companion voucher for flights to Seoul. The fine print of the voucher can be confusing, and it's not always clear if certain destinations are eligible for use with the voucher.
In some cases, the issue may be related to the fact that WestJet has a codeshare agreement with Korean Air, which operates flights to Seoul. This partnership can sometimes complicate the use of the companion voucher, as it may not be valid for flights operated by Korean Air.
If you have tried to use your companion voucher for a flight to Seoul and have encountered difficulties, it may be worth reaching out to WestJet customer service for clarification. They should be able to provide you with more information on the specific terms and conditions of the voucher and whether it can be used for flights to Seoul.
Ultimately, it's important to carefully review the terms of your companion voucher before attempting to use it for a flight to Seoul or any other destination. Understanding the limitations and restrictions of the voucher can help you avoid any potential issues when booking your trip.

Has anyone been able to use a westjet companion voucher for Seoul? It’s hard to tell from the fine print, but it hasn’t worked for me yet, and I’m wondering if it’s because it’s shared with Korea air?
