I want to do a Disney repositioning cruise from Vancouver to San Diego. Are there any specials out there? Have you gone and would recommend it? Or should I just go straight to theme park? My kids will be 4 and 1.5. I thought Disneyland might be too overwhelming. Both hubby and I don't do rides

Waste of money. Kids too young. How about a Disney cruise???

I worked on a Disney cruise for a while and they really cater to kids. If you’re planning on checking your kids into the play area for some alone adult time, double check the age requirements, because I think 1.5 years is too young for that. But that young, I’d probably do cruise over parks. Much less planning and stress, but the kids still get the Disney experience.

I highly recommend it! I took my son, then 2 yrs old to it and had a great time. Same idea: thought he was too young for theme park but still wanted to give him Disney experience. Cruise was perfect! Great food, staff, shows & amenities are all top notch. For the little ones, you can pay a fee for babysitting if you'd like a nice dinner without kids while the older one can be dropped off at a kids club. They definitely know how to cater to kids which is one slight downside 'cuz adults may get a bit bored but you're there for the kids right? I love their cruise line & even went back again when I had a second child. (Ages at that time 3 & 7) I just recently went on a Royal Caribbean cruise with the family and still preferred Disney even though Disney is much more expensive. They just really know how to ensure the kids have a good time! One word of caution in case it's your first cruise: I found the open water to be quite choppy at times so ensure you have Gravol for everyone, those sea sick wrist bands or eat green apples on the ship to help with the nausea. Hope you end up going 'cuz you'll have a fab time!

You pay the same price but booking through an agent gives you access to their services

Always safer to book with a travel agent. If anything goes wrong like airline going bust or weather problems you will be taken care of first.

I took my twins last year summer on that exact cruise, they were 5 and they absolutely loved it. They were in the kids club all the time! Kids have to be using the toilet on their own to be in kids club. There is also a daycare for a cost for younger children. Visiting with characters is all pre-planned so you need to get tickets in advance, done through the Disney website. They have some character based things like a Disney jr Dance Party or Stitch came to Kids club. We also participated in the "Fish Extender" gift exchange that is done by guests, not Disney it was fun and I would recommend looking into it. The food was great, definitely higher end options at the restaurants. Or you can get pizza or chicken strips on the deck. The ship puts on a show every evening which are great! And we also had a Pirate Party that was super fun! Everything about the Cruise was amazing for my family. I would definitely recommend it. We also got a 2 day pass to Seaworld while we were in San Diego before returning home, also absolutely amazing!

Side note, we just returned from Disneyland and for our girls they were just tall enough for many of the rides and for the cost I think the Cruise would be the better option for younger kids, especially if rides aren't you main reason for doing Disney! There are lots of Facebook Groups for all Disney Vacations. Maybe join a couple to get some more ideas for what will work best for your family! Happy Travels!

I never used the daycare, you would have to speak to Disney about that.
The Character meet and greet are free but some, like Princesses need to be pre-booked. I think 90 days before sailing date.
My kids loved both and would do both again. Travelling with a toddler, I would think the Cruise would be easier.

We did it quite a number of years ago and it was a horrible experience. It was a very small and outdated ship and the seas were so rough along the coast that the entire ship was vomiting. Because it was a repositioning cruise they were busy painting the ship, which I understand of course but many people complained of the smell. By the time we arrived to disembark, everyone cheered! I’m not exaggerating!The food was excellent though!

I’m working on the cruise industry and I can give you a quote but I think they are too small to enjoy the Disney cruise. I’m actually going on the Disney cruise from Vancouver to San Diego this sept but you have to book this cruise when they just launched the fare which is last last year around early July so you will get a cheaper rate. I’m actually monitor the next sailing to release in 2019 for my clients so they will get a better fate once the rate is launched.
The 4 year old kid will enjoy but not the little one.

I'm interested in the may one from San Diego to Vancouver, it's five nights and for two adults and two kids it still seems a little pricey

its too late to book right now as i wouldnt book it for myself coz the price is too high. you have to wait for 2019 when they just release the sailing.

Betty every year is different but i found it is so much cheaper when they just release the rate, for ex. i booked when they just released early July and rate for adults incldued taxes is at US$717 and kids are around $399.72 pp , back in 2015 was $574.01 for adult and kids around $334
