For the Lower Mainland, Harrison Hot Springs is great.
There are also several options on the Sunshine Coast - you could even take the ferry from Nanaimo over to Powell River rather than going through Vancouver proper.

Whistler is very reasonable right now. Just returned from 3 nights at Pan Pacific. Full kitchen, balcony, view, separate bedroom. $160/ nt!

Heather I was just going to suggest that. It's very central too so you can see Parksville, Coombs, Qualicum from there very easily. I have not stayed but I know people who have and said its amazing
