Get all your Disney clothes/costumes/toys outside of the park (like at Walmart or something). You'll save lots of money

We loved the Best Western that was right across the street. Breakfast included and a short walk. We brought snacks and stuff in and then ate in the park. We found it more difficult to leave the park to eat. That usually meant we were done for the day. Buy all your clothes before you go, it’s expensive in there. If you do the Boutique buy your own dress here and bring it with you.

If you can afford to stay at a Disney Resort Hotel (ie: Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian) it's totally worth it.
- Getting in an hour early every day means less time spent in lines.
- You can get your purchases sent back to the room so you don't have to carry them everywhere.
- You never leave "the Disney bubble". You'll see characters in the hotel lobby. You never see a car, hear a horn honk, etc. You are immersed in the magic and it's wonderful.
- It's easy to leave the park in the afternoon and go back to the hotel and take a break/swim in the pool. When you go back to the park at 3:30-4:00, you'll see all of the exhausted, overstimulated kids you'll appreciate it.
Plan out your meals ahead of time based on restaurant recommendations (online or in a guidebook). There's a lot of bad food at Disneyland and a lot of great food. Plan ahead and eat well.
Grab a disneyland guidebook from your library or local book store. They are full of tips and are WELL worth the $20.
Finally, there's a new Disneyland app that has wait times for all of the rides. It's a lifesaver.

Get a park hopper but your kids will like Disneyland more than the CA at this age. Go first thing in the am. Fast pass all day. enjoy and leave around 1 to go back to your hotel. Snooze, pool, happy hour. Basically recharge and then go back around 5 for the nite. The best! And Fantasmic and fireworks above the castle are way better than World of Colour in my opinion.

Our best souvenir is the photopass +one week. You pay (I think $79 USD) and then everytime you see a photographer, you get your picture taken. In our 5 days, we had 700 pictures taken. Go back to the hotel for naps in the afternoon, then back to park until fireworks. Stay in the hotels across the street, don't eat in the park. Have fun

There is a MaxPass option to include the photo pass and fast pass - thinking that is good

To be honest I would not get the MaxPass. It is $10 per ticket per day and while you can make your fast passes while on your phone (do not rely on the park wifi) and you also get the pictures as well, someone from your party can run around get fastpasses when they become available and then meet the rest of your party at a location. I have them get into a line, then I rush and get fastpasses and can be back before they get on the ride. With the age of your kids, the rider swap would be more useful than the MaxPass.

Michael okay thx for that - I didn’t even see the rider swap option - how and where do we get that? Thx!!

You all get in line, when you load, you explain that you want a rider swap. Adult a takes child a on ride while adult b and child b (who is too small or doesn't want to ride) wait. After A's ride then adult b takes child a to ride again. You are usually given a ticket or pass to hand to the cast member who then puts you back in the loading area.
