Need tips for getting to the summit of the Eiffel Tower...

rules have changed because of recent problems in Paris and apparently the tower is behind barricades now and you cannot freely wander like you used to - we went 10 years ago and the lineups were minimal even though we had read about pre buying - get info from people who have visited in the last 3 to 6 months for a somewhat more accurate accounting

Morning is probably better for less people, tour busses haven't started yet, they usually start about 10 AM on, you don't have to line up twice, once you are on the 2nd floor then you just get on the elevator for the top (assuming you have bought the ticket that gives you access), don't waste your money on the rip off tickets - go directly to their site to buy tickets and an explanation http://www.toureiffel.paris/.../buying-your-tickets.html

Paulette is right. Going next week too and I purchased them off the official site. I was told to go early morning if i had no tickets by a friend. Anytime before 12. It's off season right now so there shouldn't be as much of a line for anything as during summer

We were there last sept. we took subway to area. Then walked. Didnt buy any extra tickets for jumping line. It went fast you will have lots of security checks just like airport! We went in the morning but would have liked to see at sunset. Paris has changed army walking around with machine guns. Security checks in some stores. We had an incident at la louvre when we were there. But still lived it!

We were there last March the line up to buy tickets was short since so many ppl prebought. The big and slow line up was after you have your ticket.

I did the elevator and also walked up to the 2nd floor and prefer the walking. It is not grueling at all; you can take your time and enjoy the walk up. There are small platforms so you can rest if needed. If you choose to walk it, there are machines on the second floor to buy tickets to get to the top.

One of the local tours is more than worth the money. I learnt so much plus we got priority access up the tower

We took a "behind the scenes" tour. Not badly priced, learned lots and got us a few places you can't go otherwise. We are not big tour people but thought that one totally worth it.

I went in October and got jump the Line pass guided your . Good thing as we may have waited in line ups all day

It's like a 15 minute walk (if you take your time). When I went the line was short because EVERYONE practically took the life (that lineup was like an hour). If you want to go up to the 3rd level there's a shorter life line on the 2nd (gift shop) level for a lift there, though it's not necessary. Up to you. And the 3rd level isn't the top, that's just as high as it goes. You can't go all the way to the top.

I would suggest goin once in the morning and once in the evening 2 totally different experiences and views in my mind

Worth the wait

I enjoyed walking around the Eiffel Tower in August 2015 but it was crazy busy. We opted to ascend the Tour Montparnasse instead. Reasonable price, no lines, fast elevators and 360 degree views as far as the eye can see including a fabulous view of the Eiffel Tower. Locals say it has the advantage of not being able to view the large, black tower that doesn't fit into Paris's landscape. There is a lovely, large observation deck with plenty of room and no time limits.

We were just there 2 weeks ago . Buy tickets for the 2nd level from the official site if anything is available (especially if you plan to go in the evenings) the lines were insane. With your ticket to the 2nd level you will bypass all the lines even get a special entrance thru security. Once on 2nd level you can pay the difference there and purchase the tickets to the summit with zero wait time in line .
