United had a smoking deal in the spring, not sure how much it is now. Transport is everything from "chicken buses" to private taxi. Where are you headed?

I usually go south to San Juan Del Sur. For arriving in Managua, it all depends on the arrival time. If you arrive early, you can probably get a bus. But if you arrive after dark there are no buses and must take a taxi.

Tips for Cheap Flights and Public Transport in Nicaragua
Cheap Flights to Managua
Finding affordable flights to Managua, Nicaragua, for the end of November can be a challenge, but here are some tips to help you save money:
- Be flexible with your travel dates: Airfares can vary significantly depending on the day of the week and time of the month. Try to be flexible with your travel dates to find the cheapest options.
- Check budget airlines: Low-cost carriers like Spirit Airlines, Frontier, and JetBlue often offer competitive rates for flights to Managua. Keep an eye out for their sales and promotions.
- Use flight search engines: Websites like Skyscanner, Google Flights, and Kayak allow you to compare prices across multiple airlines and travel dates. Set up price alerts to be notified of any price drops.
- Consider nearby airports: Fly into airports near Managua, such as Liberia in Costa Rica or San Salvador in El Salvador, and take a bus or shuttle to your final destination. This can sometimes be more affordable than flying directly into Managua.
Public Transport in Nicaragua
Nicaragua has a decent public transportation system, although it can be a bit challenging for first-time visitors. Here's what you need to know:
- Buses: Buses are the most common form of public transportation in Nicaragua. They are inexpensive but can be crowded and uncomfortable, especially for longer journeys. Major cities like Managua have reliable bus networks, but schedules and routes can be confusing for tourists.
- Taxis: Taxis are readily available in cities and tourist areas. While they are more expensive than buses, they can be a convenient option for shorter distances. Always agree on the fare before getting in, and be aware of potential overcharging.
- Shuttles and private transfers: Many hotels and tour operators offer shuttle services or private transfers between major destinations. These are more expensive but can be a safer and more comfortable option, especially for longer distances or remote areas.
- Rent a car: Renting a car can be a good option if you plan to explore various parts of the country. However, be cautious of driving conditions, as roads can be poorly maintained in some areas.
Regardless of your mode of transportation, it's always a good idea to research your options, compare prices, and plan your routes in advance. Have a great trip to Nicaragua!
