M sadly they probably wont be able to rectify this for 20 years or more so maybe the quicker you go the better, just pick your spots when you go, hit Sausalito on the water for lunch or dinner at least once, walk along the ocean to the side of SFO, aka the airport, Half Moon Bay and the coast is a lovely drive, Paradise Beach Park, beaches north and west of the Golden Gate Bridge, lots of lovely places without the garbage and opioid problems

London… just did a week there and loved it. Easy and cheap to fly into Gatwick. The tube (subway) is super easy to navigate and takes you from the airport to any city location quickly. Stayed in Kensington, beautiful neighbourhoods to explore. Enjoyed theatre (Hamilton, Pretty woman) seeing the sights and a tour to stone Henge and Oxford. Currently in Amsterdam for a week, also could do it easily in 7 days. So many choices
Silvia
I will be on a river cruise, 3 years in the making. No more covid.
Melanie
Thanks for all of the suggestions! I was thinking for this June, and I probably will skip ones where the long flights could take up 2 out of the 7 days….

Destination Dreaming: A Week in Mid-June
As the warm embrace of summer draws near, the allure of a mid-June getaway becomes irresistible. If given the opportunity to escape for a week during this magical time, my wanderlust would undoubtedly lead me to the breathtaking landscapes of Iceland.
The Land of Fire and Ice
Iceland, a rugged and otherworldly destination, has long captivated my imagination with its stark contrasts and natural wonders. From the majestic glaciers that carve through the pristine wilderness to the steaming geysers and bubbling hot springs, this Nordic island nation offers a tapestry of experiences that beckons the adventurous spirit within me.
Imagine trekking across the lunar-like landscapes of the Highlands, where ancient volcanic forces have sculpted a surreal playground of lava fields, towering mountains, and deep canyons. The thrill of witnessing the raw power of nature would be amplified by the opportunity to soak in the rejuvenating waters of the Blue Lagoon, a geothermal oasis that promises to soothe both body and soul.
Chasing the Midnight Sun
Mid-June in Iceland also holds the allure of the midnight sun, a celestial phenomenon that occurs during the summer solstice. With the sun seemingly defying the laws of time, the days stretch endlessly, bathing the landscapes in a golden glow that lingers long into the night. Imagine embarking on a midnight hike, surrounded by awe-inspiring vistas and the mystical dance of the northern lights, nature's own mesmerizing light show.
Beyond the natural wonders, Iceland's vibrant culture and rich history offer a captivating glimpse into a world where Viking legends and modern marvels coexist. From the charming streets of Reykjavik, where colorful houses and trendy cafés invite leisurely exploration, to the remote fishing villages that dot the rugged coastline, every corner of this enigmatic land holds the promise of discovery and enchantment.
A Journey of Self-Discovery
Ultimately, a week in mid-June in Iceland would be a journey of self-discovery, a chance to immerse myself in nature's grandeur and embrace the raw beauty that surrounds me. Whether it's hiking along ancient trails, marveling at the power of thundering waterfalls, or simply basking in the serenity of the midnight sun, this adventure promises to leave an indelible mark on my soul, forever etched in the memories of a lifetime.
