Four of us stayed in a suite at the Wellington last summer. It's a great location and was relatively reasonably priced when we split four ways. It's an older hotel and they're gradually renovating. Our first suite was older, shabby but clean but we couldn't get wifi. So they moved us to another one which was fairly newly renovated and much more spacious. My sister chose to stay there again when she went last month..

We stayed at the Lexington. Great location and was reasonably priced.

went there last year. next time i will save some big bucks and stay in queens or brooklynn close to subway. subway is so easy and fast. airbnb or vrbo in brooklynn or queens is the way to go i think.

I used to live there. If you're near the subway, you're central. I prefer to stay in Brooklyn or the village to midtown/Times Square. The food and experience and neighborhoods are better outside of that area. Times Square is fun once but not something you'll want to hang out around. The Pod hotels are fun, and airbnb (while most suites are not legal in the city) can be affordable and there's some beautiful ones in Brooklyn. Have fun!

Stayed at The Iroquois and Hampton Inn MSG/ Times Square North. Reasonable and near subways - and places to eat and visit

The Best Areas to Stay in Manhattan for First-Time Visitors
If you're planning a trip to New York City for the end of June, choosing the right area to stay in Manhattan is crucial for making the most of your visit. Manhattan is a bustling and diverse borough, and each neighborhood offers its own unique charm and attractions. Here are some of the best areas to consider for your stay:
Midtown Manhattan
Midtown Manhattan is a popular choice for first-time visitors because it's centrally located and offers easy access to many of the city's top attractions. This area is home to iconic landmarks like Times Square, the Empire State Building, and the Theater District. It's also a hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment.
Pros: Central location, close proximity to major attractions, vibrant atmosphere.
Cons: Can be crowded and noisy, more expensive hotels.
Lower Manhattan
Lower Manhattan, which includes neighborhoods like the Financial District, TriBeCa, and Greenwich Village, offers a more laid-back and residential feel while still being within easy reach of many attractions. This area is known for its historic charm, trendy restaurants, and cultural attractions like the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.
Pros: Quieter and more residential, closer to the waterfront and parks, diverse dining and nightlife options.
Cons: Slightly farther from some major attractions, can be more expensive in certain neighborhoods.
Upper West Side
The Upper West Side is a popular residential neighborhood known for its tree-lined streets, diverse dining options, and proximity to Central Park. It's a great choice for those seeking a more relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere while still being within easy reach of many attractions via public transportation.
Pros: Quieter and more residential, close to Central Park, diverse dining and shopping options.
Cons: Farther from some major attractions, less nightlife options compared to other areas.
Ultimately, the best area for you to stay in Manhattan will depend on your preferences, budget, and the types of attractions and experiences you're most interested in. Wherever you choose to stay, you'll be within easy reach of the city's incredible offerings thanks to Manhattan's extensive public transportation system.
