Go to Rotorua, Huka Falls, Hamilton Gardens, Waikato, Huka Prawn Park.

You’ll need to decide how much traveling you want to do while you’re there. Hobbiton, Rotorua, Lake Tekapo and Queenstown were just some of the highlights for me.

Thank you! We will be visiting the north and south islands!
Cynthia
Milford Sound! Theres only one accommodation in Milford so book early if youre planning on staying there. Mount Cook is also beautiful.
Dave
You can stay in Te Anau and tour to Milford Sound too
Tam
thank you so much!
Dave
And oh yeah, if you go to Lake Tekapo, Air Safaris does a scenic flight over Mt Cook and Franz Josef/Fox glaciers (weather permitting)
Tam

Not a hike, but if you are on the north island go to the glow worm caves
Dave
Waitomo on North Island, Te Anau on South Island both have glow worm caves
Tam
Yes! Heard it's amazing
Karen
Hobbiton is really cool and Waitomo glow worm caves! Great Kauri Forest and the giant sand dunes on North Island.

Roy’s peak in Wanaka was my favourite hike.
I found Milford sound to be a bit overrated - reminded me of the ferry ride from horseshoe bay to Gibson’s to be honest.
I absolutely loved Abel Tasman and was surprised at the charm in Nelson.
Queenstown had an amazing little hike with incredible views.
I blogged the details of my recent trip to New Zealand here:

1. Milford Sound
Take a cruise through the stunning Milford Sound, known for its towering cliffs, waterfalls, and wildlife. This is a must-see destination in New Zealand.
2. Queenstown
Visit the adventure capital of the world, Queenstown. Take a scenic gondola ride, go bungee jumping, or simply enjoy the stunning views of Lake Wakatipu.
3. Mount Cook National Park
For some beautiful hikes that aren't too advanced, head to Mount Cook National Park. The Hooker Valley Track is a popular choice, offering stunning views of glaciers and mountains.
4. Rotorua
Experience the geothermal wonders of Rotorua, including geysers, hot springs, and mud pools. Don't miss the Maori cultural experiences in this area.
5. Abel Tasman National Park
