I just arrived home from pp. It is less expensive than punts Cana as the resorts are a little older ( in general) there are nice beaches but water is tougher. Better for surfing and such. So if you like fancier/newer large resorts then go to pints Cana. ( both are beautiful though)
Margaret
Punta Cana for sure. We had amazing time. Check Coco Bongo great entertainment.

Check out Sosua town after PP. beautiful beach but quiet town

With all due respect, I would advise travelers to do your research about Sosua. It was distressing to see that many young prostitutes (and that was during the day - apparently, the numbers quadruple at night. We checked later and it is one of the most popular sex tourism spots in the world.) And it is not a quiet place at all. I sat with my husband and two children in an open air restaurant (actually, a Canadian pub style place) right on the main street downtown where we were hassled repeatedly by a sleazy drug dealer who must have come by at least half a dozen times to sell powders and pills from the seat of his fancy motorcycle. Sosua was a fabulous place to snorkel (we went with Aqua Adventures - great company) but personally, I would not stay there.

Punta Cana or Puerto Plata?
Choosing between Punta Cana and Puerto Plata for your vacation can be a tough decision. Both destinations have their own unique charm and offerings, so it ultimately depends on what you are looking for in a vacation.
Punta Cana
Punta Cana is known for its stunning beaches with crystal-clear waters and white sandy shores. The resorts in Punta Cana are luxurious and offer a wide range of amenities and activities for guests. While Punta Cana may be more expensive than Puerto Plata, the quality of the beaches and resorts make it worth the price.
Puerto Plata
Puerto Plata, on the other hand, is a more budget-friendly option compared to Punta Cana. While the beaches in Puerto Plata may not be as picturesque as those in Punta Cana, there are still beautiful spots to enjoy. Puerto Plata is also known for its vibrant culture and historical sites, making it a great destination for those looking to explore beyond the beach.
Resort Recommendations
For Punta Cana, some popular resort recommendations include:
- Excellence Punta Cana
- Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana
- Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa
For Puerto Plata, consider staying at:
- Grand Paradise Playa Dorada
- BlueBay Villas Doradas
- Iberostar Costa Dorada
Ultimately, both Punta Cana and Puerto Plata have their own unique appeal, so it comes down to personal preference and budget. Whichever destination you choose, you are sure to have a memorable vacation!
