Is $890 a steal for a 4-night Disney cruise from Yvr to San Diego?

Question:

Is this a good deal? $890/person for a 4 night repositioning cruise on the Disney Wonder from Yvr to San Diego. That's an inside stateroom price.

How do you find these re positioning cruises? Often thought I'd like to try one. Thank you

Go to sites. If you put in transatlantic then that is repositioning etc. different lines offer different repositioning. I have taken 3. Never do the one going into New York as water could be rough. Doing one to Hawaii from Vancouver. Just keep watching pricing

at that site you can pick a category and one of them is repositioning. then you can book through them or check out the price direct with cruise line.

We r also doing the one to Hawaii in Sept(did it two years ago, too...fabulous) and you can get a pretty great rate for 11 days for two ppl.

Vacations to Go is great but note if you use cruise.com the category for a repositioning to or from Vancouver is usually US & Canada Pacific.

Not good deal! I also NEVER take inside cabins. Need to know if it is day or night.

It's very much personal preference. You can save a LOT of money with an inside cabin vs. a balcony for example. We we've cruised we attempt to spend as little time in the room as possible and use the money we saved on other other things.

Thanks folks....so what would be considered a good price for it?

It varies from cruise line to cruise line. I also would never do an inside room. Go on and sign on to cruise critics and you will read tons of comment. I always go celebrity as it tends to be an older group

Not really or 4 nights. We have just booked a caribbean cruise balcony out of new orleans 7 nights for 695.00. Seems expensive for repositioning.

No, hope taxes and fees of $350 are included and in canadian !

For a Disney Cruise, I would say that's about the average. I've done 3 different ones, they aren't cheap but they are worth every penny

For Disney that's typical. Disney charges a premium price for a premium product. Their ships are consistently rated as the best. See http://www.cruisecritic.com/memb.../cruiserschoice_index.cfm
You break down that rate per night and compare apples to apples, ie other Disney cruises, and it's a decent deal.
If you don't need or want this type or level of quality then it's not a good deal.

Has anyone done this specific cruise before too? I'm watching the one departing in Sept from Vancouver and saw it as low as $499 USD. Was THAT considered a good deal?

Profile picture of Flo

Flo

We're looking at September too. Did your $499 include taxes and everything? If so, I think that would've been really good. Where did you find that?

Profile picture of Andrew

Andrew

I highly doubt it. It was a snapshot a friend sent from a site (forgot which one) so it would be a fluke if it all added up to $499. Haven't been on a cruise before so no idea what fees would be involved. From the post above, it looks like it can jump up another $300 or so.

Profile picture of Flo

Flo

Oh ok, not really then. There's a whole bunch out there right now for US$520, but you have to add taxes and port charges etc, which ends up the same as the $890 CDN that I originally saw

Profile picture of Paulette

Paulette

Dru Barbaza were those all in prices and were they in CDN $ or US$ - most are quoted in US$

Profile picture of Paulette

Paulette

I see $878 for Oceanview and $1022 for Balcony $Canadian - not sure if this includes taxes etc. - look at the site Vacations to go On Disney site those same rooms range from $1661 to $2029 US

Profile picture of Paulette

Paulette

The only cheaper one I see is on Sept 23 on the Coral Princess 4 nights for $466 CAN

Profile picture of Andrew

Andrew

I think it was VacationsToGo as well. It was $499 a week ago. In USD. Jumped to $667 or something now. I'm sure there were taxes and fees to be added afterwards.

No, there are other cruise lines doing the same route for much less.....

Is this a good deal?

Many factors come into play when determining if a $890/person price for a 4 night repositioning cruise on the Disney Wonder from Yvr to San Diego is a good deal. Let's break it down:

1. Cruise Line Reputation

Disney Cruise Line is known for its high-quality service, entertainment, and family-friendly atmosphere. This reputation often comes with a higher price tag, but many passengers feel it is worth the cost.

2. Itinerary

A repositioning cruise typically offers a unique itinerary as the ship is moving from one homeport to another. The route from Yvr to San Diego may not include as many port stops as a traditional cruise, but it can still be a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

3. Accommodations

An inside stateroom is the most budget-friendly option on a cruise ship. While it may not have a view of the ocean, it still provides a comfortable place to rest after a day of exploring the ship and ports of call.

4. Additional Costs

It's important to consider any additional costs that may be incurred during the cruise, such as gratuities, excursions, specialty dining, and alcoholic beverages. These expenses can add up quickly and should be factored into the overall cost of the cruise.

Conclusion

Ultimately, whether $890/person for a 4 night repositioning cruise on the Disney Wonder from Yvr to San Diego is a good deal depends on your personal preferences and budget. If you value the Disney Cruise Line experience and are comfortable with an inside stateroom, this price may be worth it for the unique itinerary and high-quality service you will receive.
