Don't miss Santa Fe, beautiful city with fantastic galleries. I thought the 4 Corners Monument area was a waste of time

Exploring the 4 Corners Area
If you're flying into Albuquerque and driving to Durango with your senior mother who isn't that agile/mobile, there are still plenty of options for you to explore the beautiful landscapes and learn more about the local Native nations in the 4 Corners area.
National Parks and Reserves
Since your mother cannot do hikes, you might want to consider visiting the following national parks and reserves that offer scenic drives and viewpoints:
- Chaco Culture National Historical Park in New Mexico - Explore the ancient Puebloan ruins and learn about the history of the Native peoples in the region.
- Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado - Take a guided tour of the cliff dwellings and learn about the Ancestral Puebloans who once inhabited the area.
- Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park in Arizona/Utah - Take a scenic drive through the iconic red rock formations and learn about Navajo culture and traditions.
Artsy and Design-Focused Activities
If you're into anything artsy and design-focused, you might want to consider the following activities:
- Visit the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico - Explore the works of the famous artist known for her abstract landscapes and vibrant colors.
- Take a pottery or weaving workshop with local Native artisans - Learn about traditional Native American crafts and create your own unique souvenirs.
- Explore the art galleries and studios in Taos, New Mexico - Discover local artists and their diverse range of artwork inspired by the Southwest.
With 4-5 days to adventure around the 4 Corners area, you'll have plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in the rich culture and natural beauty of the region. Enjoy your trip!

Looking for recommendations for the 4 Corners area (New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Arizona). Flying into Albuquerque and driving to Durango. Will have 4-5 days to adventure around. Will be travelling with my senior mother who isn’t that agile/mobile. I can do hikes but she cannot. Would like to still explore some of the national parks and reserves, would love to see beautiful landscapes and learn more about the local Native nations! Into anything artsy and design focused as well… See more
