Anna
We loved Naples. Where are you staying. Our airbnb host recommended this amazing restaurant. We let the chef decide our meals. I will try to find it. Spend at least 3 days in Naples if you can.
Krystina
Anna staying around the Spanish Quarter!
Anna
Krystina We stayed in chiaia. There where 4 of us. Either you hate Naples or love it. Must do underground Naples. We then had a private transport to mount Vesuvius Pompeii and our air bnb in lower Rivello. If you have any questions I can try to help. We were there in 2019. Path of gods was amazing.

Anna I found Naples to be the Oshawa of Italy
Having said that Sorbillo had the BEST pizza ever.
Rivello is pure magic. Heaven on earth.
Enjoy!

Might be too south for you, but Seville, and Granada! If you can make it work, definitely would recommend! Enjoy your trip!

Lisbon: time out market, Java rooftop, mano a mano
Porto: Alfendega (for traditional eats) Fabrica del nata for tarts
Amalfi: Hostaria Acquolina (15 min bus ride outside of Amalfi to a town called Pogerola)
Ravello: (Didn’t eat here but beautiful Michelin star place in the garden called Flauto di Pan - I imagine reservations are needed)

Barcelona- book the paella cooking class from the Paella Club!!
it was the best experience we had overall! The next best thing was the Withlocals tour we had, lots of hidden places we wouldn’t have been able to find ourselves
Wendy
In Barcelona particularly book anything you want to see as far in advance as possible.
Sunny
Porto - Reitoria, By the Wine
Barcelona - Dr Stravinsky, Deliri, Bar Del Pla, Lilith & Sons, Escairon

La Pepita in Barcelona and Rosie la Loca in Madrid! Great tapas at both!

Also, we did a paella cooking class at The Paella Club which was hands down the best!

If you want to visit some rural Spain/Portugal, I had a great time staying at this b&b a couple years ago which is directly on the border in Spain.

If you can try and go to Sorrento, Capri and Ischia- I personally think the Positano and Almafi can be done in one day
You can go from Almafi to Positano by taking the Path of Gods- it’s a hike with crazy views
Susan
With close to 20/20 vision and common sense there are relatively few places in Italy where you will be disappointed. Sicily if you should venture lungo mare has some of the best seafood and indie restos.
Best pizza chain Pianeta Pizza.

I go to Spain yearly. Madrid over Barça for me any day of the week. I wasn't even really a bar person and Madrid changed me. Best overall for me is Casa Alberto, but there are tons of really old, atmospheric bars to choose from: https://www.restaurantescentenarios.es/en/
Kristina
Aaron Since you’re knowledgeable about Madrid and Barcelona, I hope you’ll give me some advice.
I’m going there for the first time in October. I’m looking for hotel accommodations now. Please tell me the most central areas to stay in. I want to be walking distance to most tourist sights( museums, etc.) or a short Metro ride away.
I’m also looking for budget hotel accommodations: simple, very clean, in a bustling area, close to Metro area. Not very expensive; hopefully $90-$140 CAD. I’m looking st the booking websites and it’s overwhelming.
Thank you.
Aaron
KristinaWell, for Madrid, my wife and I often get an airbnb. One annoying thing about Spain is that even in a lot of the high end hotels, instead of a king or queen bed, you'll get 2 beds pushed together. This is our latest airbnb in Madrid and we loved it last Christmas: https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/9965402...
Kristina
Aaron Thank you very much. For my first visit (solo) I don’t need much room and I prefer a hotel. If I return (I hope), then I might book an AirBnB.
Any advice on the main areas to focus on for hotels?
Kristina
Aaron The place looks nice and the price is reasonable. Booked up in October anyway....
Aaron
KristinaFor Madrid I like to stay in the Huertas/Santa Ana area (near my favourite tapas bar - Casa Alberto) You will be equidistant from the museums, Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol as well as the Lavapies & La Latina neighbourhoods.
Aaron
In Seville, I like to stay just north of the main tourist centre (because it can be busy by the cathedral and I prefer the northern part where more locals live). Search for nearby Confetaria La Campana (amazing coffee btw) or El Rinconcillo (oldest tapas bar - 1670)
Kristina
Aaron Thank you! I noted earlier that it’s good to be close to the Sol Metro station and the Plaza Major. Is that the vicinity you’ve referred to? Later, I will look
on Google Maps.
Aaron
KristinaYes. Those are the places. Check this bnb out. We enjoyed staying with them some time ago: https://artisticbandb.com/ Also, even more budget, but clean and nice: https://www.hostalsantaisabel.com/en/
Kristina
Aaron Thank you. I will look at these.
Aaron
For Seville, we book an apartment through VEO. Note that apartments in Seville are much cheaper than in Madrid! That said, the taxi drivers there aren't very knowledgeable, so bring a map. https://www.veoapartment.com/apartment-sevilla-0515...
