I stayed for three nights on Lady Elliott Island. Amazing. I would go back for sure. If you happen to be a diver, the southern area of the GBR has less bleaching.

I loved Lady Musgrave. Will you make it to the Whitsunday Islands? I circumnavigated those with friends in Sailing pedal drive Hobies. You can also get out to the islands via a transport.

You didn't mention how you will be traveling. I rented a Jucy Van in Brisbane and drove to Sydney. https://www.jucy.com.au/renta.../australia/brisbane-airport/

Research Fraser Island. I loved that .... we had a guide and loved it. But I was 25 at the time not sure how that would go in my 40’s

The Blue Mountains (and the Three Sisters) were a highlight for me when I was there.

The Whitsundays. You can book a sailboat tour to get there. It was very affordable. The blue mountains for sure wear the correct footwear so you can enjoy the trails.

Fraser Island is a natural rainforest. While
very interesting it was most certainly wet.

I enjoyed the Great Beach Drive bear Noosa, the Australian Zoo, the Cairns Zoom and Wildlife Dome, a tour on the Daintree River to search for crocs (saw several with Daintree River Cruises), and of course the GBR. We travelled out to the Reef on the Quicksilver boat... Brisbane is a lovely city too,

Whitsunday Islands for sure. I was lucky enough to travel all over the country and this was one of my favorite stops. Absolutely stunning.

It’s Brisbane and I would recommend going up to Port Douglas.

Exploring Australia in February 2020

I'm excited to announce that I'll be heading to Australia in February 2020! I'll be flying into Brisbane and spending just over 3 weeks exploring this beautiful country.

I'm planning to spend some time on the Gold Coast, Sydney, and visiting the Great Barrier Reef. I'm looking for recommendations for tours to the reef and other must-see attractions.

Great Barrier Reef Tours

There are many different Great Barrier Reef tours available, so it's important to do your research to find one that fits your interests and budget. Here are a few of the most popular options:

  • Day trips: These tours typically depart from Cairns or Port Douglas and last for around 10 hours. They include snorkeling or diving at one or two reef locations, as well as lunch and snacks.
  • Overnight tours: These tours depart from Cairns or Port Douglas and last for two or three days. They include snorkeling or diving at multiple reef locations, as well as meals, accommodation, and activities such as fishing or kayaking.
  • Liveaboard tours: These tours depart from Cairns and last for three or more days. They include snorkeling or diving at multiple reef locations, as well as meals, accommodation, and activities such as fishing or kayaking.

When choosing a Great Barrier Reef tour, it's important to consider the following factors:

  • Budget: Day trips are the most affordable option, while liveaboard tours are the most expensive.
  • Time: Day trips are the shortest option, while liveaboard tours are the longest.
  • Interests: If you're interested in snorkeling or diving, you'll need to choose a tour that includes these activities.
  • Fitness level: Some tours require a higher level of fitness than others.

Other Must-See Attractions

In addition to the Great Barrier Reef, there are many other must-see attractions in Australia. Here are a few of my top picks:

  • Sydney Opera House: This iconic building is one of the most famous landmarks in Australia. You can take a guided tour or see a performance.
  • Sydney Harbour Bridge: This bridge is another iconic landmark in Sydney. You can walk or bike across the bridge or take a guided tour.
  • Bondi Beach: This beach is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Australia. You can swim, surf, or sunbathe.
  • Uluru (Ayers Rock): This massive rock formation is one of the most iconic landmarks in Australia. You can take a guided tour or hike around the base of the rock.
  • The Great Ocean Road: This scenic coastal drive is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Australia. You can drive along the road or take a guided tour.

I'm so excited to explore Australia in February 2020! I'm sure it will be an unforgettable experience.
