I've done the Rickshaws twice in Asukusa, a little pricey but it's nice to sit for about an hour and you get lots of good info/history about the area that you normally wouldn't.

As long as you are close to a train/subway station, you will be good and be able to explore Tokyo. You can also check the airport limo shuttle and see which hotels they stop for drop off/pick up and go from there.

Your will miss the bulk of the blossoms unfortunately which is worth traveling for!
Nice think about Japan is price does not all indicate quality. I love staying in Shibuya. You will be on a train constantly anyways and Shibuya is my favourite and a main line to everywhere and there is an excellent tourist booth right outside station by Hachiko! There is a food walking tour on viator that is great and introduces you to a variety of the different foods available.
Musts are Asakusa, quicknstop at sky tree near there. If you go up pre buy your ticket. We went up but I didn’t think it was worth it. Harajuku st for sure, Royal Gardens will be beautiful m. Don’t overdo temples and shrine, to much else to see.

3 Days in Tokyo with a Toddler: Hanami and Beyond

Tokyo in mid-late April is a magical time when the city is adorned with the delicate pink hues of cherry blossoms (sakura). With just three days in hand and a three-year-old in tow, your itinerary should strike a balance between taking in the iconic sights and enjoying the seasonal splendor at a leisurely pace.

Day 1: Hanami and Cultural Immersion

  • Start your day early at one of Tokyo's most famous hanami (cherry blossom viewing) spots, such as Shinjuku Gyoen or Ueno Park. Bring a picnic mat and snacks, and let your little one run around and enjoy the scenery.
  • After the hanami festivities, head over to Sensoji Temple in Asakusa. The colorful Nakamise shopping street leading up to the temple is a delight for both adults and children.
  • End your day with a stroll through the neon-lit streets of Shibuya, stopping at the famous Shibuya Crossing.

Day 2: Family-Friendly Adventures

  • Begin your day at Tokyo Disneyland or DisneySea, where your little one can enjoy the rides, shows, and character meet-and-greets. Allocate a full day for this experience.
  • Alternatively, you could explore the vibrant neighborhood of Harajuku, known for its quirky fashion and youth culture. The Meiji Shrine and the nearby Yoyogi Park offer a serene respite from the bustle.

Day 3: A Taste of Tokyo

  • Dedicate your final day to exploring the culinary delights of Tokyo. Start with a visit to the historic Tsukiji Fish Market (or its newer counterpart, Toyosu Market) for a sushi breakfast.
  • Next, head to the Kitchen Town area of Kappabashi for an array of kitchenware shops and fun photo opportunities.
  • End your day with a stroll through the neon-lit streets of Akihabara, the hub for electronics and anime culture.

Accommodation Recommendations

For a family-friendly stay, consider booking an Airbnb apartment in central neighborhoods like Shinjuku, Shibuya, or Asakusa. These areas offer easy access to attractions and transportation options. Alternatively, you could opt for a more traditional experience by staying in a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) in quieter areas like Asakusa or Yanaka.

Remember, the key to enjoying Tokyo with a toddler is to take things at a relaxed pace and be prepared for frequent breaks. Don't hesitate to modify this itinerary to suit your family's interests and energy levels. Embrace the cherry blossom season, and create lasting memories in this vibrant city.
