It's been 10 years, but the Louvre, Rodin Museum, Père Lachaise Cemetery, the Catacombs, Montparnasse Tower (better view of the city than the Eiffel tower). Check out http://www.spottedbylocals.com/paris/ for some different ideas

No line ups and a fantastic view of the Eiffel Tower!
Katie
Musee De orsay is 100 times better than the Louvre. Do a free walking tour, leaving from St Michel fountain. The best thing you'll do
Daphne
I agree. All the most famous artists can be viewed in less that 3-4 hours. The restaurants are good also in the Orsay.

On Saturdays in the summer there are fireworks in the gardens.

Sacre Coeur was my favourite!

There is a fabulous restaurant on the same island and Notre Dame. It's over 350 years old and in a very rustic building! It was amazing! Highly recommend it. Sorry I don't have the name!

The Marais neighbourhood.

That's where we're staying!

Any advice on getting there from the airport?
Elspeth
From CDG?

Yes

The RER B line will take you right into Paris. It costs 10 Euros a ticket. There is a terrific app which gives you which metro line to take. BEWARE the ticket gates. They can be tricky with luggage. Let me look up which app...
Elspeth
The one I used is called Paris Metro and has a picture of the front of a metro car. It works offline and is terrific for planning where you want to go. We used it constantly.

Wear really comfy shoes. Paris is made for walking. FYI the lights in the city come on at 10:00 pm. Of course, we were there in May. It may be earlier when you're going.
Jack
Awesome help, thanks!!!!
Elspeth
You're welcome! Have a fantastic time.

- River cruise was great and surprisingly inexpensive (we did a basic one but there are many options... dinner cruises etc)
- Check out the love locks at Pont Neuf
- La Grenouille for delicious (but not cheap) frog legs
- Walk from the Arc de Triumph, down Champs d'Elysses (stop at La Duree for macarons!!) and through Jardin des Tuilieres to the Louvre... so much to see along the way!
- And of course the Eiffel Tower and Sacre Cour can't be missed
Jack
Thanks Taylor!

We really loved the Jardin du Palais Royale, just a short walk from the Louvre. Rodin museum was a surprising standout. Sitting in the Tuilleries after dark (up the Louvre end) and watching the Eiffel Tower lights come on is special. The Louvre is open late on Friday nights which is awesome. Just immerse yourself in culture - grab a coffee and a baguette and sit to watch the world go by.

There was a similar request for advice on Paris just 5 days ago. Just do a search (search box for the page is on the left hand side) and you'll find it. Lot's of great tips.
I'll reiterate, I cannot recommend the Paris Museum Pass highly enough. Great money saver, and even better, a great time saver. It allows you to skip most ticket lines (though not security lines). That alone is worth it.
Amelia
Definitely!! You don't even need to wait in the crazy lines at the Louvre. You can get them in the Carousel entrance which is usually less busy, and they also sell them at stree vendors, but we were unable to get the 3 day pass then.
Andrew
Jack Dong Sorry, similar but different page (not sure why there are two). You can find it here. Search for France.

Love this tapas bar in Paris. It's standing room only and it gets really packed so get there early in the evening https://g.co/kgs/cMKuuB

There are free walking tours also. Just Google it. Louvre is amazing and also go back to see eiffel tower at night to see the blinking lights. They have the schedule for the lights on their website

We were in Paris 2 weeks ago .. stayed there for 5 days .
1. Definitely book your Eiffel tower online thru the official site . If you can't find a time slot to the summit buy tickets to the 2nd level. This will let you cut the very long lines for Buying tickets and then the long lines for security. And once on 2nd level you pay the difference and can purchase the tickets to the summit.
2. Buy a Paris pass
You get front of the line access to the louvre, and entrance to over 50 different museums . And an unlimited transportation pass for bus, metro etc
Plus a hop on and off 1 day use and a 1 hour river cruise .
3. The transportation system in Paris is amazing!! To go from one place to another just enter it into Google maps .
4. The best spot for pictures of Eiffel is place du trocadero
Have a great trip
Jack
Great tips!
Diane
Sacre Cour in early evening to watch sunset with a baguette, cheese, grapes and wine!
Ev
We took the hop on hop off bus tour around the city and loved it as it gave us an overview of the City plus a lot of history. We also did a bike tour to Versailles which was fantastic ! You book in Paris it includes your train tickets
