Disney land ?
The bund is nice at night. You can do the dinner cruise. Really neat. They also have an acrobat show which was amazing !

I think it is very warm there that time of the year . Public transportation is the best . Subway to avoid delay . Try to go off peak hour . I would suggest off central location but close to subway location for stay . Stay away from raw food .

If you don’t mind staying outside of downtown consider Pudong area, the Dorsett Shanghai is right above the metro with a small supermarket across the street and free shuttle to Disneyland if that’s in your travel plans. Maybe 10 minutes to the Bund from there.

It will be hot and muggy. So much to see depending on what you are interested in. Hangzhou makes a nice 1 or 2 day break with lovely scenery. Shanghai museum and the newer Natural History Museum are world class. I would go back just for the food. Metro is super convenient. Their aquarium is good and makes for a cool air conditioned break. Oriental pearl tower for buffet lunch in the revolving restaurant. The new Shanghai tower bc it’s the tallest in town. Yuyuan gardens is nice but admittedly touristy. Just taking a metro a few stops and exploring around is always fun. Xintiandi is a nice part of town to explore, as is the Former French Concession. Ooh, Chongming Island day trip. We did a bike ride in a park once there and it was lovely. There are some nice farm resorts on Chongming too for one or 2 nights.
Taxis are relatively inexpensive and safe if you want to go somewhere off the metro line.

We stayed on this hotel in march 2017. Free buffet.breakfast is really really good and its 5mins.walk away from a train station. Highly recommended. The rooms are huge and the washrooms are also huge.

U can take the train from the airport to go to this hotel for 5 yuan ($1 canadian)
