I'd skip Split. Spend some times on the islands instead!

Recommend you overnight at Plitvice to be there later and earlier than the crowds do you can enjoy it rather than be elbowed off the boardwalks or wait in an hour lineup for the boat.
Brac and Hvar are great- more worthwhile than Zadar.
Be sure to enjoy lamb ‘under the bell’ and everything truffle.

Ps. We rented a vehicle from Avis - good car - best rate we could find as we did a one way from Porec to Dubrovnik.

Use sixt car rentals. I recall the one way prices being reasonable or the same as round trip. Consider ditching the car upon arrival in Dubrovnik so you can stay in old town. Then just fly back up.

I am looking for advice/suggestions from people who have been to Croatia. My fiancé and I fly into Zadar on August 6th and fly out on August 15th (10 nights). In this time, we intend to spend three nights in Zadar, taking in a trip to Plitvice Lakes one of the days. Our plan is then to rent a car and drive down to Split (2 hour drive) on the 9th and stay in Split for three nights, perhaps taking in a trip to Brac or Hvar. On the 12th, we would like to drive to Dubrovnik (3 hour drive) and stay here for two nights before returning to Zadar on August 14th before flying out the next day.
Based on the above itinerary, does anyone have any tips for must-see places or activities? Does anybody have any advice regarding driving and/or renting a car in Croatia? Thanks in advance for your help
