Adventure Canada is offering this trip in 2023. I've been on two of their small-ship expeditions and highly recommend any trip they offer. Two friends went on their Scotland only trip and loved it.
Lizz
Kerren OMG this is amazing, I was hoping to be able to travel by boat
Geoff
There's a ferry that goes from Denmark to the Faroe Islands and then on to Iceland. I saw a documentary on Discovery Canada about it. Looked pretty neat.

Agreed!! I went to Lerwick in the Shetland Islands in 2019!! Jarlshof archaeological site is a must see
Deanne
Don't miss the Orkney Islands! Beautiful scenery plus amazing neolithic history.
Lizz
Deanne I love anything archeologic
Liz
Second this - the Orkneys punch well above their weight for both history and scenery!
Pat
Deanne Rick Steves just did a show on the Orkney Islands tonight. I think it is available on line ( public tv). We had a wonderful day there. See the stones. Better than Stonehenge as it is so natural!
Deanne
Pat I'll have to find that episode. We were there for a week in 2019 and didn't see nearly everything. Lovely people too.
Pat
Deanne wow! A whole week. That is good to know as we only had one day off the cruise ship
Deanne
Pat here's where we stayed. A fantastic little place if you ever want a longer stay. https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/1940269...

I was so inspired by Orkney that I wrote a novel set there!

My husband traveled to the Faroes years ago and still dreams of going back. He says the people there are the most accepting, kind and resilient folks here had ever encountered. And the scenery was gorgeous.
Donna
I've been and I must say that I prefer Iceland and the Scottish Islands. I had a huge fantasy about the Faroes but in fact, the combination of wind, rain, freezing temperatures and the whale kill (a harbour full of blood) put me off. Better support for travellers in the Shetlands, Orkneys, Iceland.
Lizz
Donna good to know
Janet

Ann
Not an answer but a hear hear! The Faroe Islands are at the top of my wishlist
I have already been to Iceland and Scotland but the Shetlands would be interesting. All we can do at the moment is dream
Pat
Adventure Canada does an expedition cruise to those areas. Actually 2 cruises back to back. I had booked them for this year, but COVID. They are expensive but so we'll worth it.
Lucy
