Ferries are huge but always seem
To run later. Nearly got on the wrong one a few times. Santorini was my fave. Stayed down at Kamari beach. Ios the cutest town there for sure. Mykonos is a very party island. The south side of Crete was great.

I'd pick 2-3 islands instead of 4. The way I did it was fly into Athens then flew to the island furthest away, then made may way back towards Athens via ferries to other islands. I did Santorini , Mykonos, and iOS and loved them all. They are all somewhat similar and so that's why I suggest less islands (less time on ferries, more time on the beach)

Just be aware that though Santorini is beautifully is also popular and incredibly busy so if you’re looking for an intimate, Greek Island experience, perhaps give it a miss!

Liz it’s too pretty to miss. Actually looks like the postcards

We took flights rather than the ferries. I recommend you stay in Santorini the longest- soooo beautiful and worth it. Rent an ATV to get around the entire island, take a catamaran and bbq sunset cruise, check our Santos Winery. Crete is also amazing and should spend extra days there because it is huge! Rent a car if you can and be sure to try out the Cretan seafood and Raki (appertif). When in Greece order their house wine- a half litre is 5euros in some places
I wouldn’t spend more than 2-3 days in Athens- but definitely check out the historical sites (ruins, old square- theres a rooftop patio restaurant there were you have an amazing view of the acropolis!)
Loved everything about Greece! enjoy!!!

Been to Santorini! Absolute best place ever!

Santorini was amazing. Particularly renting a car and really exploring every corner. I would skip island hopping and spend all my time there personally. Mykonos and Naxos were nice, but Santorini was incredible. (Also the ferries are horrific, sometimes several hours late. Just the worst)

Santorini .... don’t go to too many islands… Santorini

We had 5 nights in Athens with 2 day trips seemed about the right amount of time. Santorini 3 nights. Definitely rent an ATV. Fun and cheap. Gets you everywhere. We had 5 nights in Crete and could have used weeks. Rented a car. Stayed in Hania and Heraklion. Lots to see and do. Love Greece. Great food and friendly helpful people. We also cruised the Cyclades on a catamaran. iOS Naxos Paros. Amazing trip with yachtgetaways.com.Our best trip ever!

I'm going to Greece in May! I'm flying in May 23rd in the AM and hopping a cruise that night for 7 nights..I'll hit those islands on the cruise. After the cruise I will have another 8 nights, my plan is a few nights on Hydra island and then maybe Agistri or Poros island!
Sharon
We did 3 nights Athens, flew to Naxos for 4 nights , ferry to Santorini for 4 nights , flew back to Athens for final night before flying home.
I enjoyed the pace. Athens has incredible history, Naxos is a quite and quaint fishing town . We divided our time in Santorini between Oia and Fara. Rented a car for a day in Naxos and Santorini. Fun exploring the island.
Flying between islands was great but the ferry is brutal. Nothing like the ferry in Vancouver.
Enjoy your trip. You’ll love it!

I agree with taking flights but there is the option of a ferry with a berth (for sleeping). Ferry schedules can be researched. I would stick to two islands (Santorini and Crete) and maybe another that’s on the way to either of those as the travel time is longer than you imagine. I loved Athens, night market, ruins etc. There are also tours to the historical parts on the mainland, so give yourself some days to see it all. We rented cars on every island, except Santorini and saw so much.

I would fly. It’s cheap and fast. You don’t need much time in Athens.
Wendy
We did ferries they were great fairly cheap efficient and loved seeing all the other islands as we went by ....def def Santori ii is gorgeous

I have been to all those places, Rhodes is my favourite and save at least 3 full days for that island. Santorini not a big deal, it is so commercialized. You get to see the infamous sunset when you are travelling between the islands, however the caldera is worth a visit if you make it to Santorini. Mykonos beautiful beaches. 2 days is enough but yo gotta go to Delos so give 1 extra day for that. Crete again 4 full days. Athens, 1 full day is enough visit the acropolis then take the ferry off to Rhodes or if you must go to santorini so be it. Anyway enjoy your vacay Greece is beautiful and sunset is everywhere to see
Ruth
Wow, that’s a lot yo cover in 2 weeks. You won’t see much of anything because you will always be on the move. I was in Greece last Sept for just under a month and saw Mykonos, Santorini and Athens.

Planning a 2-Week Trip to Greece in September
Are you thinking of a trip to Greece in September? Two weeks is a great amount of time to explore some of the most popular destinations in Greece, including Athens, Crete, Rhodes, Mykonos, and Santorini.
**Is Two Weeks Too Much Time?**
Two weeks is a good amount of time to see several of the Greek Islands, but it's important to note that you will be spending a lot of time on ferries. If you are short on time, you may want to consider visiting fewer islands or spending less time on each one.
**How Many Days in Each Place?**
Here is a suggested itinerary for a 2-week trip to Greece in September:
* Athens: 3 days
* Crete: 4 days
* Rhodes: 3 days
* Mykonos: 2 days
* Santorini: 3 days
This itinerary gives you a good amount of time to explore each island, but you can adjust it based on your interests and budget.
**Ferries**
Ferries are the main mode of transportation between the Greek Islands. There are several different ferry companies that operate in Greece, so you will have a variety of options to choose from.
Ferries can be expensive, especially if you are traveling during peak season. To save money, consider booking your ferry tickets in advance and traveling during the off-season.
**Recommendations and Preferred Islands**
All of the islands you have listed are popular tourist destinations, so you will have a great time regardless of which ones you choose to visit. However, here are a few recommendations:
* Crete is the largest island in Greece and has a lot to offer, including beautiful beaches, stunning landscapes, and ancient ruins.
* Rhodes is a historic island with a beautiful old town and plenty of beaches.
* Mykonos is a cosmopolitan island with a vibrant nightlife scene.
* Santorini is a stunning island with dramatic cliffs and beautiful sunsets.
**Conclusion**
Greece is a beautiful country with a lot to offer visitors. If you are thinking of a trip to Greece in September, two weeks is a good amount of time to explore some of the most popular destinations. Just be sure to plan your itinerary carefully and book your ferry tickets in advance.

Thinking of going to Greece in September for approx. 2 weeks.
Arriving in Athens. Islands - Crete, Rhodes, Mykonos, Santorini.
Not sure if that’s too much. How many days in each place? What are the ferries like? Any recommendations or preferred islands?
