We did a helicopter tour of the island and it was so worth it! Lots of sites you can only see via air or sea. The Napali Coast is amazing!!!!! We stayed in Wailea - the location was great.

I second that....most fantastic spot for a helicopter ride. Expensive but worth it.

Look into the weather and the time year you're going and where you're hoping to stay. We went during the rainy season and stayed on the north shore and there was no sun for 7 days straight and we drove to find sun everyday for 45 minutes on the south side.

Btw I was talking to someone over there who said that the road on the north side towards the Napali coast is still closed past Hanalei Bay, due to a massive rainstorm (49" of rain, she said!) and landslides. Major reconstruction is needed. She said they were hoping to open it by Christmas, but said you shouldn't hold.your breath, because the damage was extensive. That north end is so beautiful and a popular place to go, so I figured you might like to know you might not be able.to get there.

Stay near Poipu Beach which is the south side...way sunnier there.

Sunniest side is the south shore. Poipu. Also the best snorkeling at Lawai Beach. It’s also close to Waimea Canyon for great hiking and boat tours up the Napali Coast.
South shore also has a beautiful hiking path from Shipwreck Beach. LOVE Kauai. And they did have a massive flooding in February that closed the north shore. You can’t drive past Hanalei Bay yet but there’s a lot to do before you get that far. Maybe save your visit to the north shore for next time.
There’s also a beautiful bike ride along the east coast. You can rent bikes in Kapaa for cheap.

We were there in November. Love Hanalei bay. Wished I spent more time there. And defiantly must go see the napali coast. It’s spectacular. And there are chickens EVERY WHERE!!!

If you stay on the south side it’s much closer to most hikes in the state park. Beautiful lodge there in the park and great people. Poipu is nice, high end shopping and good restaurants

Best island! I loved it
Going back in November. We stayed in Kapaa and it was a great central location but the beaches there are not great for swimming. Kipu Ranch Adventures ATV tour was one of the most fun things I've ever done. I also loved kayaking up the Wailua river and hiking the Sleeping Giant trail. Street Burger has amazing food. Kauai is phenomenal, have an amazing adventure!

Definitely do the helicopter tour! Worth every penny. Queens bath on north shore, drive up Waimea canyon on east side. Friday night art night in Hanapepe is a great way to spend an evening.

Watch out for the chickens, you'll feel like you're in a jack Johnson video... and everything closes super early so dont expect any sort of night life. The rainy season switches sides depending time of year. There is a Burger joint on the north side all the celebrities go to when they visit. And their pictures are on the walls

Da Crack in Koloa. Wicked burritos!

Explore Waimea Canyon and hike the Awa'awapuhi Trail to get to a narrow path and dangle your feet over 5000 feet in the air. You can look down at helicopters giving tours of the Napali Coast! Truly breathtaking.
Rent a kayak in Wailua and head to the secret falls. It's the only way to get there!
Go tubing down an old sugar plantation irrigation system.
Check out Queens Bath and the Kilauea Lighthouse
Check out Salt Pond Beach, and one of my favourite beaches from all 5 Hawaiian Islands I've been to - Polihale State Park. You need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get there but it's so worth it. The beach stretches out as far as the eye can see!

Bellingham and Seattle have a bit of an airline battle going on to all @AlaskaAir destinations. Park at any of the log term part & rides to avoid airport parking rates
