My husband and I are planning to go to Thailand, Singapore, and Bali in April... Does anyone have any tips or suggestions such as where to go, what things cost, where to stay?

In Singapore, I really enjoyed staying around Clarke Quay. Centrally located and easy to walk around to a lot of things. In the evenings a lot of different crowds come out to watch the street performers and its a really fun atmosphere. Grab a bottle of wine from 7/11 (they'll even uncork it and give you cups) and sit and watch for a bit before continuing onto dinner/a night out. I got on the water taxi and did a loop around the harbour (cheap) and just happened to be out when there were fireworks in Marina Bay. Make sure to go up Marina Bay Sands to see the view, but note that you can't get to the pool unless you're a guest. 1 Altitude was nice to go up and have a drink while looking out over the view with MBS in it and was a near experience, but be warned that the crowd isn't for everyone. Sentosa Island is worth a visit. Lots of stuff to do depending on your preferences. It's also where the southern most point of continental Asia is. I never did it, but I really regret not getting out of central Singapore to see the rest of the country. I guess it depends on how much time you have.

Thanks for the suggestions in Singapore... I was born there but so much has changed since I was there last and my husband has never been... I was a little lost on where to take him around..

I'm in Chiang Mai right now. It's great for food, shopping and excursions (elephant treks, waterfalls, white water rafting). I absolutely love Koh Tao.. smallest island on the east coast. Stay around Sairee beach.. popular area.. or a bit further south if you want something more quiet. But definitely check out Nangyuan island if you go to Koh Tao. Enjoy your travels!

I loved Chiang Mai! Pat's Klangviang was a really awesome guesthouse.. I miss their fruit smoothies and fruit & yogurt for breakfast

Yes, I was just there in Sept, chiang mai was my favourite place in Thailand. I did visit some of the islands too, but some of them do close in the off season. I do recommend people to bring stomach meds, the water is not safe after boiling in a lot of areas. Thailand is much cheaper than bali, We did airbnb in bali and found it a better deal than otherwise. Uber also works in bali and it'll take u around for a few bucks. Otherwise rent a scooter and learn the ways of the Indonesia (e.g., have money to bribe the police if you get caught going down the wrong way on a one way street)

Be sure to be in Thailand for Songkran! I experienced it both in BKK and Chiang Mai... it's really awesome in CM! For Songkran, be sure to leave your phone or camera at your accommodation... or at least have waterproof casings.

If you're going to Bali avoid Denpasar (essentially Kuta, Legian, and Seminyak) completely. It's overcrowded, noisy, and filthy, the beaches aren't nearly as nice as they claim, and you'll spend all day getting harassed by people wanting to sell you stuff, give you tours, or give you rides. You're not even safe from that on the beach. Bali is best if you coast crawl along the north side and travel through the mountains inland. I stayed at a beautiful and peaceful resort (Bali Eco Stay) where the huts are spread throughout rice fields and the main hall often has local dancers and musicians performing traditional pieces. Ubud is also worth a stop. Basically, Bali is great if you stay out of Denpasar.

for Thailand, check the phi phi island and night market they have lots of delicious food and items. check chatuchak market, very nice and cheap, but be careful for pickpockets. Singapore, only great for shopping for me, for the best rate for changing money is at little india.... For Bali, go to uluwatu and ubud area they have kecak balinese dance and uluwatu temple, try the dirty duck at ubud and for hotel I like blue pointbay villa http://www.bluepointbayvillas.com/ or karma kandara hotel also at uluwatu. Look for local money changer in bali, for Seafood try Jimbaran and many more beautiful places in Bali.
