A friend and I are headed to PV in 2 weeks time, would you recommend buying excursions ahead of time, or wait until we get there?

Absolutely not. They are avail a dime a dozen. I highly recommend Vallarta Adventures. Super awesome company. We have done the Las Marietta’s trio as well as the zodiac/unimog/mule and then great zip line adventure too.

We are in our 50's, and took our 4 adult kids on the zipline with Vallarta Adventures..Was the most memorable thing we've ever done - you don't have to be in great shape. It was worth every penny!!! We bought ours in our resort.

Who did you get your flight with ? I bought mine ahead of time through sunwing. It seemed better to just buy ahead of time to not worry. If you buy it there don't buy it off the malicon cause they could be scams

Also when I bought through sunwing they had a promo that if you bought two they give you a third free excursion. I think even if you didn't buy their package you can buy excursions from them

Yes most are $100 each but worth every penny. And yes a day out on public bus to Sayulita is awesome too and a must. It’s like comparing apples and orange though. Zip line a blast and las mariettes sound snorkel and kayak and seeing whales is fabulous. Vallarta Adventures

To Book Ahead or Not: Excursions in Puerto Vallarta

May 15, 2023

If you're planning a trip to the beautiful resort town of Puerto Vallarta, chances are you'll want to explore the area's stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. One question that often arises is whether to book excursions before your trip or wait until you arrive at your destination.

The Case for Booking Ahead

There are several advantages to booking your excursions ahead of time:

  • Guaranteed Availability: Popular excursions tend to sell out quickly, especially during peak seasons. By booking in advance, you can secure your spot and avoid disappointment.
  • Potential Discounts: Many tour operators offer early bird discounts or package deals when you book ahead. This can save you money and help you plan your budget more effectively.
  • Peace of Mind: With your excursions booked in advance, you can relax and enjoy your vacation without the stress of trying to coordinate activities once you arrive.

The Case for Waiting

On the other hand, there are also benefits to waiting until you arrive in Puerto Vallarta to book your excursions:

  • Flexibility: By waiting, you can adjust your plans based on the weather, your mood, or any last-minute recommendations from locals or fellow travelers.
  • Potential Bargaining Power: Tour operators may be more willing to negotiate prices or offer discounts for last-minute bookings, especially during slower periods.
  • Local Knowledge: Once you arrive, you may discover unique or off-the-beaten-path experiences that you wouldn't have known about beforehand.

The Verdict

Ultimately, the decision to book ahead or wait will depend on your personal preferences and travel style. If you're the type of traveler who prefers to have everything planned in advance and values the security of guaranteed availability, booking ahead may be the way to go. However, if you're more spontaneous and open to last-minute adventures, waiting until you arrive in Puerto Vallarta could be the better choice.

Regardless of when you book, be sure to do your research and book with reputable tour operators. And, most importantly, enjoy the amazing experiences that Puerto Vallarta has to offer!
