Narita customs, immigration and security takes a long time, make sure you allocate at least 3 hours each for arrival and departure!

Thanks for the heads up

I love to transit a night or two in Japan en-route to BKK or SIN. Because of your 24 hour time constraint, I have a few recommendations.
• Option #1 : Stay a night in Narita City.
- Take a short train ride to Keiseinarita station (Keisei line) and stay at : http://www.apahotel.com.e.ju.hp.transer.com/.../10.../
- If you're a non-smoker, this hotel's ventilation and ac unit works in winter.
or if you're a smoker, stay at : http://www.mercure.com/.../hotel-5487-mercure.../index.shtml
This hotel's ventilation unit is blowing air from the other smoking floors to your non-smoking floors and in winter, their ac is off so it sometimes gets very stuff. However, if you're an Accor Platinum member (you can get it for free, google it), you get 6pm late check-outs next day.
- Explore Narita City and Naritasan Temple

- If you feel like window shopping, you can visit Aeon Narita Mall. Use their shuttle service, located outside the Keiseinarita station : http://narita-aeonmall.com.e.cb.hp.transer.com/

• Option #2 : Take Keisei "Skyliner" to Keisei Ueno Station
http://www.keisei.co.jp/.../tetudou/skyliner/us/timetable/
- Explore Ueno city for different restaurants, lots of belt-sushi types.
• Option #3
- Take the Narita Express (NEX)

to Tokyo Station or Shinjuku Station. Find a a hotel close to the station and explore the area. Take in all the tall bright buildings and shopping malls.
Currently, NEX is having a promotion of 1,500 yen one-way ride to downtown. http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/pass/nex_oneway.html

How to Spend a 24-Hour Layover in Tokyo (Narita Airport)
A 24-hour layover in Tokyo may seem like a short time, but it's enough to get a taste of this vibrant city and experience some of its unique attractions. With Narita Airport as your starting point, here are some must-see and must-do activities to make the most of your layover:
Visit Sensoji Temple and Asakusa
Asakusa is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tokyo, and for good reason. Sensoji Temple, also known as Asakusa Kannon Temple, is Tokyo's oldest Buddhist temple and a cultural icon. After exploring the temple grounds, stroll through the lively Nakamise shopping street, where you can sample traditional Japanese snacks and souvenirs.
Immerse Yourself in the Vibrant Shibuya Crossing
No visit to Tokyo is complete without experiencing the famous Shibuya Crossing, one of the busiest intersections in the world. Watch as thousands of people cross the intersection in a mesmerizing, organized chaos. While in the area, check out the nearby Hachiko statue, a beloved meeting spot, and explore the vibrant fashion and entertainment district.
Indulge in Delicious Sushi
Tokyo is a sushi lover's paradise, and there's no better way to experience the city's culinary culture than by savoring some of the freshest sushi you'll ever taste. Head to the famous Tsukiji Fish Market (or its newer location, Toyosu Fish Market) for an early morning visit and indulge in a sushi breakfast at one of the nearby restaurants.
Explore the Imperial Palace East Gardens
For a peaceful respite from the city's hustle and bustle, visit the Imperial Palace East Gardens. These beautiful gardens offer a glimpse into Japan's rich history and traditional landscaping. Stroll along the tranquil pathways, admire the meticulously pruned trees, and enjoy the serene atmosphere.
Shop and Dine in Shinjuku
Shinjuku is a vibrant district known for its towering skyscrapers, neon-lit streets, and lively nightlife. Visit the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building for panoramic city views, explore the chaotic and colorful Kabukicho entertainment district, and indulge in some of Tokyo's finest dining options in the area's countless restaurants and food stalls.
Remember, Tokyo is a bustling metropolis, and getting around can be time-consuming. Plan your route carefully and consider using the efficient public transportation system to maximize your time during your 24-hour layover.
