Try The Rocks Walking Tour near start of your stay. It takes you on a tour of the area where the first convicts landed and how the country developed from there. Very interesting and makes you appreciate things later on in your holiday.

Be sure to simply hang out in the park right behind the Opera House. There were so many birds including cockatoos and huge fruit bats to name a few. Watching the cockatoos on the lawn was amazing.
