We didn't get asked about timeshares at all! I had read about that in other reviews so was ready for it. But didn't get stopped at all.
David

Varadero is great place, beach is beautiful, people are good too
Danielle
We had a great time at patriarca with kids and grandparents.

El patriarca was decent. Cons would be pool not open at night and because it's near the end of varadero, it's a long bus ride/taxi to town. The resort itself is decent, not exclusively old or young, AC in the rooms works well

Are you considering a family getaway to the beautiful beaches of Cuba or Mexico this Easter? Two resorts that have caught our attention are the Ocean Varadero El Patriarca in Cuba and the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort in Mexico. Let's dive into what these destinations have to offer for a memorable family vacation.
Ocean Varadero El Patriarca, Cuba

- Occasional language barriers with staff, as English proficiency may vary.
- Restrictions on certain amenities and activities due to the U.S. trade embargo against Cuba.
Sandos Caracol Eco Resort, Mexico
Situated in the heart of the Riviera Maya, the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort offers a unique eco-friendly experience. Here's what you can expect:
Pros:
- Stunning natural surroundings, including lush jungles, cenotes (natural sinkholes), and white-sand beaches.
- Eco-friendly practices and educational programs for families to learn about sustainability and conservation.
- Wide range of family-friendly activities, such as snorkeling, kayaking, and zip-lining.
