Stayed at an awesome airbnb apartment in Milan and Amsterdam, I would suggest them if you're interested. Would highly recommend more days in Florence and less in Rome, personally.
Would recommend staying opposite side of the bridge from Vatican City in Rome, IMO.

I believe you can see people who have reviewed me on airbnb which should show their listings (Rocco was Milan, Johan was Amsterdam. Both their apartments were great)!

^agree with less in rome and more in florence -- I was actually kind of bored in rome. Everything is really far apart and it just felt like a big city. Florence was amazing and you could also do some wine tours, etc

Travel Advice: Amsterdam, Rome, Florence, Milan
Amsterdam
For your stay in Amsterdam from August 22-24, I recommend booking a hotel in the city center or near one of the central canals. This will allow you to easily explore the charming city on foot and enjoy the beautiful architecture, canals, and cultural attractions. Some popular and well-rated hotels in central Amsterdam include the Ambassade Hotel, Pulitzer Amsterdam, and Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam.
Flight from Amsterdam to Rome
For your flight from Amsterdam to Rome, I suggest booking a direct flight if possible. This will save you time and hassle compared to a connecting flight. There are several airlines that offer direct flights between Amsterdam and Rome, including KLM, Alitalia, and Vueling. I recommend booking your flight for August 24 or 25, depending on your preference and the availability of flights.
Rome, Florence, and Milan
In Rome, you could consider staying in the historic city center or near popular attractions like the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and Vatican City. Some recommended hotels in central Rome include Hotel Raphael, Hotel Artemide, and Hotel Quirinale.
For your one day in Florence, you may want to book a hotel near the city center or close to the Duomo (Florence Cathedral) and other major sights like the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. Popular options include Hotel Brunelleschi, Hotel Calzaiuoli, and Hotel Pershing.
In Milan, consider staying in the city center or near the Duomo di Milano and the famous shopping districts like Quadrilatero della Moda and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. Some highly-rated hotels in central Milan include Palazzo Parigi Milano, Hotel Principe di Savoia, and Park Hyatt Milan.
Regardless of the cities, I recommend booking your hotels well in advance to get the best rates and availability, especially during the peak summer travel season.
