Chris
The Dominican Republic is one of 77 countries that have removed *all* covid related entry requirements, for everyone, regardless of vaccination status. Meaning even proof of vaccination isn't required, nor is a test result. Entering these countries is essentially the same as it was in 2019.
However you do need to complete the free exit and entry form (e-ticket). More info: https://www.godominicanrepublic.com/newsroom/coronavirus/

We went to a travel clinic and got some vaccines for that part of the world. Some you need to take twice so give enough time.

Bernadet i was told yellow fever and booster for typhoid, and malaria tablets. Is this it?
My friend was told only malaria.
Bernadet
Anne Not all those but I think 2 doses of Ducoral too for traveller’s diarrhea. I can’t find my health passport, but the travel nurse we went to was in Sahali Mall…you could phone her and make an appt.

Preparing for a Trip to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic
Planning a trip to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic? Here are some things you need to do to prepare:
Vaccinations
The following vaccinations are recommended for travel to the Dominican Republic:
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Typhoid
- Yellow fever (if traveling to certain areas)
You should also consider getting a tetanus shot and a booster for measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR).
Other Preparations
In addition to vaccinations, here are some other things you should do to prepare for your trip:
- Get a passport. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your planned date of departure.
- Book your flights and accommodations in advance. This is especially important if you are traveling during peak season.
- Purchase travel insurance. This will protect you in case of lost luggage, medical emergencies, or other unforeseen events.
- Pack light. You will be doing a lot of walking and sightseeing, so you don't want to lug around a heavy suitcase.
- Learn some basic Spanish. This will help you communicate with locals and get around more easily.
- Be prepared for the heat. The Dominican Republic is a tropical country, so it can be hot and humid. Drink plenty of water and wear sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun.
Once You Land
Once you land in Puerto Plata, you will need to go through customs and immigration. You will also need to exchange your currency for Dominican pesos. Here are some tips for getting around once you land:
- Take a taxi or bus from the airport to your hotel. Taxis are readily available at the airport, and buses are a more affordable option.
- Be aware of your surroundings. Puerto Plata is a safe city, but it is always important to be aware of your surroundings and take precautions against petty crime.
- Have fun! Puerto Plata is a beautiful city with a lot to offer visitors. Enjoy your stay!
