Cuba. At that age, you can expose them to some culture in Havana.

Orlando and Miami have lots of cool theme parks, shopping and beaches. The temperatures might not be really high but it's reasonably price.

Maui, one of the best trips I have ever done in the US. And AirCanada has direct flights there.

Love the idea of Belize, but it's outrageously priced.

I've managed to find flights for $400 all in both times (per person obviously) groupon also has Belize resorts all the time. We go to the village of Hopkins. And yes you can drive or take a $10 bus from Cancun. The small Belizean airline tropic air flies from
Cancun now too

Chad is correct, hasn't been sub-$400 flights to Central America in a long time, but it's common to see Belize bottom out in the $600s to $700s roundtrip after taxes these days. The key is finding a flight with decent layovers each way. A few hours in Houston each way on United is usually about as quick as it can be done. westjet does have flights to Belize now, but only connecting through Toronto.

Princess Cruises have a terrific teen club - my 13 year old has enjoyed it tremendously.

Fun Winter Getaway Ideas for Teens: Beaches and Day Tours

Ah, the winter months – a time when many families seek a respite from the chilly weather and a chance to recharge with some sun, sand, and adventure. If you're looking for ideas to keep your 12 and 13-year-old boys entertained during January or February, we've got you covered with some fantastic beach and day tour destinations.

Costa Rica

With its diverse landscapes, rich biodiversity, and plenty of outdoor adventures, Costa Rica is an excellent choice for a family vacation. Head to the Pacific coast and explore the stunning beaches of Manuel Antonio or Tamarindo, where you can surf, snorkel, or simply bask in the sun. Inland, you'll find opportunities for zip-lining through the rainforest, hiking through volcanic parks, and exploring waterfalls.

Belize

Belize offers a unique blend of Caribbean charm and Central American culture. The islands of Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker boast postcard-worthy beaches and excellent snorkeling and diving opportunities. On the mainland, you can explore ancient Mayan ruins, go cave tubing, and visit the Belize Zoo, where you can see jaguars, tapirs, and other exotic animals.

Caribbean Islands

The Caribbean is a classic winter getaway destination, with a plethora of islands to choose from. Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas are popular choices, offering a mix of stunning beaches, water sports, and cultural experiences. Consider booking a day tour to explore historical sites, go on a river tubing adventure, or visit a rum distillery for a taste of local flavor.

Florida Keys

If you're looking for a closer-to-home option, the Florida Keys offer a tropical paradise right in the United States. Key West, in particular, is a popular destination with its lively Duval Street, iconic Southernmost Point, and opportunities for snorkeling, fishing, and eco-tours to explore the mangrove forests and coral reefs.

No matter where you decide to go, be sure to involve your boys in the planning process and let them weigh in on the activities they'd like to try. A little bit of adventure, relaxation, and quality family time is sure to make for a memorable winter getaway.
