Just wondering if it is better to book a upgraded suite with your package or to do it when you get to the hotel? Thanks

Depends on where you're going. There are tricks for getting upgrades in Vegas, for example.

I'm not sure, Theresa. Try searching this group. I know I've seen it on here. Something about tipping when you check in, I think.

If u really really really want an upgrade pay for it. U never know if the room will be available when u get there. If u dont care then do it at the resort, or even call before u get there!

I never upgrade. Usually if there's something wrong with my room they upgrade for free.

Do it at the hotel! Never ahead of time, as they can give you deals at the hotel for them

Should You Book an Upgraded Suite in Advance or Wait Until Arrival?

When planning a vacation or a business trip, one of the decisions you'll need to make is whether to book an upgraded suite as part of your package or wait until you arrive at the hotel. Both options have their pros and cons, and the better choice for you will depend on various factors.

Booking an Upgraded Suite in Advance

Booking an upgraded suite in advance has several advantages:

  1. Guaranteed Availability: By reserving the upgraded suite when you book your package, you can ensure that it will be available for your stay. Hotels often have a limited number of suites, and they can sell out quickly, especially during peak travel seasons or popular events.
  2. Early Bird Discounts: Many hotels and travel agencies offer discounts or promotional rates for guests who book their upgraded accommodations in advance. This can result in significant savings compared to waiting until arrival.
  3. Peace of Mind: With an upgraded suite secured in advance, you can relax and look forward to your stay without worrying about availability or last-minute negotiations.

Waiting Until Arrival

On the other hand, some travelers prefer to wait until they arrive at the hotel to upgrade their room. This approach has its own advantages:

  1. Flexibility: By waiting until you arrive, you have the flexibility to decide whether an upgraded suite is worth the extra cost based on your actual needs and the hotel's offerings. This can be especially useful if you're unsure about your travel plans or if your circumstances change.
  2. Potential Deals: Hotels sometimes offer discounted or complimentary upgrades to guests upon check-in, especially if the hotel is not fully booked or if the guest has elite status with the hotel's loyalty program.
  3. Room Availability: If you wait until arrival, you may have the opportunity to inspect the available rooms and choose the one that best suits your preferences.

Factors to Consider

When deciding whether to book an upgraded suite in advance or wait until arrival, consider the following factors:

  • Travel Dates: If you're traveling during a high-demand period, such as holidays or major events, it may be safer to book the upgraded suite in advance to ensure availability.
  • Budget: Compare the costs of booking the upgraded suite in advance versus waiting until arrival. If the advance rate is significantly lower, it may be worth booking ahead.
  • Travel Purpose: If you're traveling for business or a special occasion, booking the upgraded suite in advance can ensure a comfortable and seamless experience.
  • Flexibility: Consider how flexible your travel plans are. If you need to change or cancel your reservation, it may be easier to do so if you wait until arrival.

Ultimately, the decision to book an upgraded suite in advance or wait until arrival depends on your specific needs, preferences, and the circumstances of your trip. Weigh the pros and cons carefully, and consider any additional factors that may be relevant to your situation.
