We stayed at a hotel in Japantown several years ago. We loved it. We walked a couple blocks and caught a bus or cable car downtown. Fair number of good restaurants and shops nearby. Think the hotel has changed, but now the Kimpton Buchanan.

With hot wire make sure it's 60% or higher recommended and then you are usually good

I usually stay at airbnb but the prices or more expensive are the same as the hotels but the rooms are smaller. The rates are good but service charge and ocupancy taxes eat at thevsavings

The Metro hotel is great. It's on Divisadaro. I've stayed there a few times. The area is wonderful and access to all types of transportation.
Roberta
Filly booked during my time there. It looks really cool
I might try calling them to see if that works better than online

I had an experience with hot wire once where I booked a room for a 2 person occupancy and was provided with 1 queen bed. Which would be fine if I was travelling with my partner and not a coworker. The hotel and hot wire would not budge stating that it was in the fine print and I should've booked through their partner website HOTELS.COM if I wanted specifics. Long story short we ended up paying extra for them to bump us up to a 2 double bed room.

I am travelling with my daughter to San Francisco and trying to find a hotel or accommodation, I have been looking on hotwire, does anyone know any other sights I could try? airbnb and vrbo are just as expensive as hotels and the ones I have seen are tiny with a single bed, thinking a hotel may be a better deal this time around. I did find a deal on hotwire for a hotel in Japantown, is this a good area? I read on hotwire that the deals can be better the closer you are to your… See more
