its because its still presently illegal for flights to advertise flying to Cuba, thanks to the Helms Burton law. you have to use a Canadian site like airtransat.com, or go to a canadian based travel agent.

A flight into Varadero and a 2hr bus ride to Havana will be much cheaper from what I've found.

When are you planning to go?

You can also look on skyscanner to look for the cheapest flights. Then I book through the appropriate company such as air canada for example.

Oh I forgot to mention, skyscanner doesn't show direct flights. But I doubt there's direct flights there anyways.

Or use googleflights. I was just there last week and flew with westjet to Varadero. Taxi's and busses are easy and cheap to find, plus 2 hours from Varadero. Bring cash to exchange!!! Your debit card will likely not work there. Plus wifi and access to the rest of the world once you are there, is very limited.

Hahah oh yeah I know about the WiFi situation . My parents r there now .. I can barely get through lol
I am planning to go in december. Maybe Varadero is the way to go
thank you!!

Yes get your money changed to CUC's as soon as you arrive or you are screwed. Interac/Visa don't even think about it in Cuba

This are the places I will be visiting. I would like to make a day trip out to Varadero but is it even worth it?? Apart from the beaches n resorts lol

I don't think varadero is worth a day trip. At all. The resorts are nice but there is not much else to see.

It depends the date ,it wont show if you fly Around Xmas time i think it shows 3 to 6 Months at a time

You are better to fly to Veradero and commute to Havana. That seems the norm and is cheaper in the longrun

what are peoples thoughts on renting a car and just traversing the entire country? any tips?

are you able to give a detailed budget on the costs:
- car rental
- fuel
- accommodation
- food?

Profile picture of Veen

Veen

Car rental is expensive. Go to a site called dtcuba. Com and look it up. They are all the same as they are government companies. Gas is around 1.2 a litre but varies. Accommodation and food seem to just happen. Look up Casa particulars in Cuba..... They usually serve authentic home cooked meals too.

Searching for Round Trip Flights to Havana

Hi all,

I see that you are having trouble finding round trip flights to Havana. There could be a few reasons why they are not showing up:

  1. Availability: Sometimes, airlines only offer round trip flights on certain days or at certain times. Make sure to check different dates and times to see if any options become available.
  2. Seasonality: Flights to certain destinations can be more popular during specific times of the year. It's possible that there may be limited availability for round trip flights to Havana during peak travel seasons.
  3. Technical Issues: There could be a technical issue with the website or booking platform you are using. Try clearing your browser cache or using a different device to see if that helps.

If you are still having trouble finding round trip flights to Havana, it may be helpful to reach out to the airline directly or speak with a travel agent for assistance.

I hope this information helps and that you are able to find the flights you are looking for!
