Talk a walk over the Ala Wai Canal, get out of the Waikiki. Most of the restaurants in the hotel district are chains. Check out the local establishments. The Side Street Inn on Hopaka Street (west of the Ala Moana Shopping center) is worth a trip. Also recommend Kakaako Kitchen on Ala Moana Blvd (west of the Ward Center).
I also suggest the Shirokiya Village Walk at the west end of the Ala Moana Shopping center for extensive asian culinary selection.

Hula Grill above Duke's, a little higher end. Azure as long as you get beach side seating.

The bar at the top of the Imperial on Lewers. Not always open, But the best view in Waikiki and a best kept secret.....worth checking out. They post when it will be open by the elevator.....it is mainly used for private parties....but when not booked it’s open to the public. It’s incredible!

Hawaii is a beautiful state with a lot to offer visitors, including stunning beaches, lush rainforests, and active volcanoes. But what about the food? Hawaii has a diverse culinary scene, with everything from traditional Hawaiian dishes to international cuisine.
If you're looking for a restaurant with a great atmosphere and views, here are a few of my favorites in Waikiki and Kauai:
Waikiki
- The Veranda at the Moana Surfrider: This restaurant is located on the oceanfront and offers stunning views of Waikiki Beach. The menu features a mix of Hawaiian and American dishes, and the service is excellent.
- La Mer at the Halekulani Hotel: This restaurant is known for its elegant atmosphere and its award-winning cuisine. The menu features a variety of seafood dishes, and the wine list is impressive.
- Azure Restaurant at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel: This restaurant is located on the rooftop of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and offers panoramic views of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head. The menu features a variety of Hawaiian and international dishes, and the service is top-notch.
Kauai
- The Beach House Restaurant at the Kauai Marriott Resort: This restaurant is located on the beach and offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. The menu features a mix of Hawaiian and American dishes, and the service is friendly and attentive.
- Pono Market: This restaurant is located in the heart of Kapaa and offers a variety of Hawaiian and international dishes. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, and the service is excellent.
- Hanalei Taro & Juice Co.: This restaurant is located in the town of Hanalei and offers a variety of healthy and delicious dishes. The atmosphere is casual and friendly, and the service is excellent.
These are just a few of my favorite restaurants in Waikiki and Kauai. If you're looking for a restaurant with a great atmosphere and views, I highly recommend checking out one of these places.
