Where can a young couple in Barcelona find the best local cuisine away from the tourist crowds?

Question:

I'm spending a week in Barcelona around Easter with my partner (both of us are early 30s). Would love to know what some of people's favourite restaurants, bars (not clubs), and activities to do are. We will be seeing all the typical things (Gaudí, etc) so anything off the beaten path is appreciated!

We took a cooking class for making Paella, it was so much fun. Group of about 20 people. We went to the open market with instructor to purchase food ingredients then had appys and drank lots of Sangria! Then we made a huge pan of paella, ate and drank some more. Everything included was about 50.00 each. Great evening, many laughs! We went thru viator website, I think, very reasonable price!

I took a tour bus and loved it, found out distances are long and with the buses you cover pretty much all of the attractions plus you get discounts to some others.

We did a day trip to Girona which was lovely. We also enjoyed an sunset flamenco performance on the roof of one of the Gaudi buildings. Tickets are pricey, but they include the tour of the building and a couple of drinks on the roof. It was a unique and memorable experience.

If you like the work of architect Llius Domenech i Montaner (Gaudi studied under), you might enjoy Hospital de Sant Pau or Palau de la Musica. The hospital was my favourite of those two.

Bar Mut and La Pubila (hard to find but worth it) for great tapas and service. Casa Lolea and Llamber - a bit touristy but go during off-times and you will enjoy it. I ended up doing a 3 hour mid afternoon lunch at Llamber and a nice walk around the square. Pizzeria Giulietta near the Sagrada Familia. Enjoy this fantastic city! So easy to get around.

Do a tapas crawl in the Gothic district. So many great places you can’t go wrong. They eat super late in Spain around 10pm so have a siesta in the early evening.

We went to Montserrat. You can get a train ticket that include either the gondola up to the monastery or that another train upto the top. Its a basically a whole day excursion but well worth it and it is quiet cheap and easy to do it by yourself.
