Jeannie
Cherry blossom!
Marie
definitely Sakura season, I was lucky enough to be there fall to summer and you will never see anything so amazing as Sakura season! BUT, it`s the most expensive time to go.

Cherry blossoms ia a more unique experience in Japan, they have many festivals around this time and they celebrate the season with hanami parties (which are pretty much just picnic under the cheery blossoms) a great family activity! Fall is gorgeous also but you could also find the beautiful change in leaves at other (less expensive and closer) places such as out east

I would suggest fall in Japan, and do a cheaper trip to Washington DC for their cherry blossom festival. They have amazing cherry trees gifted to them by Japan in 1912. They are beautiful!! Japan is the most expensive during cherry blossom time given the huge tourist draw, and the crowds are insane.

Japan is lovely throughout the year. I would avoid July and August as it’s crazy hot and humid. And mid winter as it’s very chilly. So spring or fall. If you plan around cherry blossom and the season is delayed you might be disappointed
Evelyn
Spring since the cheery blossoms is a more unique experience. Other places may have cheery blossoms too but the atmosphere in Japan at that time is one of a kind.
Sonja
Cherry blossom!!

We were in Japan this past April and the cherry blossoms were amazing; however like everyone here said, it is very expensive time of the year in Japan and very crowded.
Phuong

Cherry Blossom Season vs. Fall in Japan: Which is Better?
Japan is a country known for its beauty, and there are two seasons that are especially popular with tourists: cherry blossom season and fall. Both seasons have their own unique charms, so it can be difficult to decide which one is better.
Cherry Blossom Season
Cherry blossom season in Japan typically occurs in March or April, and it is a time when the country is transformed into a sea of pink. Cherry blossoms are the national flower of Japan, and they are a symbol of spring and renewal.
During cherry blossom season, people throughout Japan gather under the cherry trees to have picnics, parties, and to simply enjoy the beauty of the flowers. It is a time of great celebration and joy.
Fall
Fall in Japan is another beautiful time of year. The leaves on the trees turn vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow, and the air is crisp and cool.
Fall is a great time to visit Japan for hiking, biking, and other outdoor activities. The weather is perfect for exploring the country's many national parks and temples.
Which Season is Better?
So, which season is better for visiting Japan: cherry blossom season or fall? Ultimately, the decision of which season to visit depends on your personal preferences.
If you are looking for a time to experience the beauty of Japan's cherry blossoms, then spring is the best time to visit. However, if you are looking for a time to enjoy the country's stunning fall foliage, then autumn is the better choice.
No matter which season you choose to visit, you are sure to have a wonderful time in Japan.

If I work super hard and save up tons of money I would love to go to Japan one day with my family. But if you could only go once in your lifetime would you go in cherry blossom season or fall?
(Obviously not my pictures. Taken from the internet and they look so magical.)
