Hi! We are traveling to Santiago, Chile in November with our baby who will be 6 months old at the time. Any advice for traveling on the plane, or things to do/see once there are welcome! Thanks!!
Note: we were able to get the bassinet option for several legs of our flight.

Was there in July. It's worth it to take a side trip to Valparaiso for a day or two. Much more beautiful than Santiago.

We were fortunate to connect with a local Peruvian driver with car who drove us “all over”. Drove us from airport, city tour, wineries, over Andes to Mendoza, and so on. Very good decision! No issues. Pm for further info.

Traveling to Santiago, Chile with a Baby

Congratulations on your upcoming trip to Santiago, Chile with your little one! Traveling with a baby can be both exciting and challenging, but with proper planning and preparation, you can make it a memorable and enjoyable experience for your family.

Tips for Traveling on the Plane

  • Pack smartly: Be sure to pack enough diapers, wipes, a change of clothes, toys, and other essentials to keep your baby comfortable during the flight. Consider packing snacks and a sippy cup with water or milk to prevent dehydration.
  • Utilize the bassinet: Since you have secured the bassinet option for several legs of your flight, make use of it. It will provide a safe and comfortable space for your baby to sleep or play during the flight.
  • Prepare for ear pressure: The change in air pressure during take-off and landing can be uncomfortable for babies. Consider providing a pacifier or nursing during these times to help relieve the pressure.
  • Stay calm: Babies can sense when their parents are stressed or anxious. Try to remain calm and patient, as this will help your baby feel more relaxed.

Things to Do and See in Santiago

Santiago is a vibrant and diverse city with plenty of attractions and activities for families with young children. Here are some suggestions:

  • Parque Metropolitano: This massive urban park is a great place for a leisurely stroll, picnicking, and letting your baby explore the outdoors in a safe environment.
  • Plaza de Armas: The historic heart of Santiago, this lively square is surrounded by beautiful architecture and is a great spot for people-watching and grabbing a bite to eat.
  • Museo Interactivo Mirador: This interactive museum is perfect for children, featuring exhibits on science, technology, and the environment.
  • Mercado Central: Experience the vibrant atmosphere of this bustling market, where you can find a variety of fresh produce, seafood, and local delicacies.

Remember to take breaks, stay hydrated, and prioritize your baby's comfort and well-being during your travels. With a little preparation and patience, you and your family will create unforgettable memories in Santiago.
