My favourite cities were Barcelona and Seville. So much to see in both places. Barcelona has a great hop on hop off buss to take you around and see the city, well worth it. Seville is a beautiful city in the south (very reasonably priced) and is super flat and biking friendly everywhere. I would suggest renting a bike and seeing the city as it is beautiful. Don’t miss Place de Espania in Seville.

Granada book alahambra as soon as you know when you will be there.

The day tour to Monserrat is pretty cool. The bus picks you up and drops you off in Barcelona

We really loved Ronda (google it and hit 'images') and the Rock of Gibraltar (technically in UK, but you have to go through Spain to get there:)
Denise
Ronda. Good choice. Costa del sol is really only ok. Disappointed. Tour of white hill towns like Argos de la frontera. Seville beautiful. Barcelona amazing

1. Keep in mind it will be hot inland in August. Cordoba and Sevilla 30+ for sure.
2. You have only 12 days. I would focus on a specific region rather than cover everything.
3. North is better in August.

If you go to Malaga Spain then you can do day trips to Gibraltar and Tangier Morocco.
