If you have time go see White Sands National Park. It’s a few hours south. Be sure to walk around old town.

Vicki Thanks so much. I am travelling alone, is it a safe place? Santa Fe generally I mean. Also where do I get a covid test for travel back to Canada.

Donna, I used to live in Santa Fe/Albuquerque, traveled the whole state alone for work. It is just as safe as Calgary or Edmonton. Never once in 6 years did I feel unsafe. So much to see alone in Santa Fe. If you have any questions feel free to message me.

This is amazing timing. I'm heading there in May for 2 weeks, renting a car and driving the whole state. Want a hot air balloon ride in Albequerque too. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated

San Miguel Church, Loretta Chapel (both have fascinating histories plus are beautiful to see), there was a older gent in central Square that made Carnitas at a little stand, if he is still there try one. They were so delicious. It was a lovely place to visit.

Old Towne is wonderful; I would highly recommend a trip to Bandalier National Monument - amazing.

Visiting Santa Fe in November
Hi everyone, and thanks for your responses to my question about visiting Santa Fe, New Mexico, in November!
Safety and Exploration in Santa Fe
Santa Fe is generally considered a safe city, but like any place, it's always wise to be aware of your surroundings. During the day, most areas are safe to explore. The Plaza, Canyon Road, and the Railyard District are particularly popular and generally bustling with activity. However, as with any city, exercising caution at night and being aware of your belongings is always a good idea.
Here are a few tips for staying safe while exploring Santa Fe:
- Stick to well-lit and populated areas, especially at night.
- Avoid displaying large amounts of cash or expensive jewelry.
- Be mindful of your surroundings and trust your instincts.
- If you're unsure about an area, ask a local or hotel staff for advice.
- Consider using ride-sharing services, especially at night.
Exploring Beyond Your Workshop
Santa Fe offers a plethora of things to see and do. Here are a few suggestions:
- Georgia O'Keeffe Museum: A must-see for art lovers, showcasing the iconic artist's work and life.
- Canyon Road: Stroll down this famous street, browsing the numerous art galleries and studios.
- Santa Fe Plaza: The heart of the city, a historic square surrounded by shops, restaurants, and historical landmarks.
- Palace of the Governors: The oldest continuously occupied public building in the USA.
- New Mexico Museum of Art: Explore the state's rich artistic heritage.
- Hiking Trails: Numerous trails offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains and landscapes. Consider exploring Dale Ball Trails or Atalaya Mountain Trail.
COVID-19 Testing in Santa Fe
Before heading back to YYC (Calgary International Airport), you'll need a COVID-19 test. Here's where you can find testing options in Santa Fe:
- CVS MinuteClinic: Many CVS locations offer rapid testing, often with same-day results. Check their website for locations and availability.
- Walgreens: Similar to CVS, Walgreens offers testing at select locations.
- Presbyterian Medical Group: A local healthcare provider with various clinics offering COVID-19 testing. Check their website for information and appointment scheduling.
- Christus St. Vincent Urgent Care: Offers COVID-19 testing services.
Important: Testing requirements and availability can change rapidly. Always check the latest travel advisories for Canada and the specific requirements of your airline before your trip. It is crucial to book your test in advance to ensure you have an appointment before your departure.
I hope this helps! Have a wonderful time in Santa Fe!
